Well we made it through another holiday! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year’s Eve Celebration – me, I stayed home and was in bed by 9, asleep by 10. Never heard one fire cracker although Miss Mia and her mommy were not happy with the neighbors!
I forget how frightened dogs get with fireworks. I remember we had a little black cocker spaniel named “Trigger” and every time we would have a thunderstorm in Connecticut, he ran behind the couch and scratched at the carpet. Here is a picture of Billy and me and Trigger:
I loved that dog. It was my mother’s family dog and we were able to keep him after my grandparents died. We used to feed the dog left overs from dinner and one night when we had a particularly bad casserole he ran away. Nobody liked the casserole – my poor mother – what she endured! Anyway, we got a call from a neighbor that Trigger was at their house so we drove over to pick him up. He was so stressed out that he bit me. So off to the doctor’s my mother took me for a tetanus shot. (I had to ask Siri how to spell tetanus – I spelled it tetnus)!
Today the lights come down at my house. Christmas is over and I will begin the task of packing up the stuff and climbing up the ladder in the garage to the crawl space. I have to take my car in this morning so the garage will be empty – perfect time to do this work. I’m getting a “loaner”. My hope is that it won’t cost me anything for the loaner – I would think that is the “least” they can do for this expensive repair job. Still fuming about that, but soon I’ll “let it go” – just not quite yet!
No other real plans for the rest of this lovely long weekend. Business meeting tonight at Naples Group. Will probably go by the Intergroup Office and hang out a little tomorrow and hit a meeting – Nuts & Bolts is a good time and meeting – may go to that one. Then Sunday will be church, but all I need to do for Sunday is show up and count the “tithes”. It’s my month to do that. Next weekend I’m in Sarasota for the Area Quarterly. That is the main reason I’m fixing my car today. I didn’t want to drive up there feeling insecure about driving it. I’ve got some food to “cook” so I have meals to eat this coming week. Bought at butternut squash. The spaghetti squashes were SO BIG I didn’t want to get that one. I bought a “filet” to grill and I think I’m going to try those “cauliflower” mash “potatoes” but I also have some sweet potatoes. So I’ll figure something out.
Well I’ve got to get going – I’m supposed to have my car at the shop by 7:30 and I still have wet hair. Hope you all have a beautiful day today! Thanks for visiting! Holy Cow! My car doesn’t go in until tomorrow! Not a good way to start the new year with memory issues! Anyway, I drove ALL the way to the dealership and only when I got there and it was all “locked” up did I realize I was a day early! WOW! Oh well, I’m up and ready to get to a meeting at some point today. So many possibilities, beside the one tonight!
Bill S went to the YP NYE party last night. I texted him to find out how it went. I’m hoping they remembered to raffle off the Grapevine subscription. We’ll see about that. I’m using my desk top computer to finish this up today, so I’m gonna find a picture that is on this computer to leave you with today. I’m gonna get those pictures into Dropbox this weekend, because I really think this old XP computer is gonna die one of these days – although I’ve been saying that for a year or so and it is still working but is SLOW!
When we were in Cape Cod a few years back for our Family Reunion (sans Bill and Cathy) we took a side trip to Nantucket. We took the big ferry over there. Anyway, we were sitting at the dock getting ready to go back to the Cape and this little tugboat was messing around in the harbor. If you look closely, you’ll see a little “Pug” on the roof of the boat. I was amazed that it was so agile and had such great balance. I got this picture of it and I have this hanging with the others I have in that collection in my bathroom. Here is another great picture ( I can just open that file on this computer and drag and drop the picture here:
In all the years I lived in Connecticut and vacationed on Cape Cod, I had never been to Nantucket. It was a sweet town. I remember riding by the home of John Kerry along the way. It was huge! Anyway, I’m done now. Thanks for letting me walk down memory lane. I’m going to use this computer to add more pictures in the future. I love the “drag and drop” option! It’s really cool! I’m thinking that my pictures are pretty safe on this computer but there are a lot of them and it would take a long time to reorganize them. Makes me tired just thinking about it. A project for when I’m “retired”!

Congratulations, Mary. I’ve noticed for some time now that you figured out how to “center” your images. Makes a much neater page, even easier to read.
Re Car repair, this DOES seem like a Friday…and I sent you a link to VW Service Center–well, that is MOOT now…
I like pictures, your dog, and Cape Cod…I can smell the clean air right off the monitor! Reminds me of Ephraim Wisconsin (north above Green Bay, out on a peninsula. Wish to heck I had photos. Summer orchestra where I worked a couple summers. Real touristy, but…BUT–JUST LOVELY area. Nice bike ride to Lake Michigan beach, where–when ya walk or run through the sand it makes a sound like “vvvvip, vvvvvip, SO CLEAN!
(Here I am writing MY story on YOUR blog again–starting the New Year off with breaking my first resolution, DAMMMIT!)
Sooo, I’ve said Happy New Year so many times this week AND today, it sounds trite. But we all DO wish one another well, and HAPPY, less stressful times ahead. Combined with PEACE and LIGHT, we end up with the one covering word: SOBRIETY. And this I wish for all my friends and for you, Mary Bye!

Thanks Steve. I’ll see you later I suppose. Going to go visit my cousins in Wiggins Pass. I want the “free” food processor they have for me. Made Cauliflower Mash this morning. It’s amazing and a great substitute for mashed white potatoes. Still reading about what I can and should not eat on this new food journey.
