Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors! This is day #265 for me. There is hope though because there are now 2 vaccines available and they are distributing them. I’ll get mine in a couple of months – I don’t see a rush right now.
On the 21st – yesterday, Jupiter and Saturn were the closest they have been in 800 years! That’s 800 years! It’s amazing. Interesting that it would happen in 2020 – the year of unhappiness. Anyway, I took this picture last night to document the historic occasion.
Bill set up his scope and we could actually see the rings of Saturn. It was really pretty neat. I’ve ordered my own scope so I can view wildlife on hikes. I think it will be better than binoculars for me. I’ve never been able to use them very well. Of course, now that I’ve had my cataract surgery on my right eye, it was pretty clear looking through the lens. I’m looking forward to the left eye being done and then in a month after that, I can get glasses made up. Right now I’m using my two old pairs with the right lens removed. The color of things is much more vibrant. It’s just amazing!
Here is a picture from South Africa of the “convergence”!
And this one from BSU Planetarium:
I was kind of hoping our star would look like those, but I’ll take mine – just an iPhone picture. It’s beautiful and memorable! Especially since I put them on the blog!
Just got back from Mescal! I need 4 new tires for OTIS2 and a few other things done to stop the oil leak. Merry Christmas to US! As an update. The Oil Pan housing needs to be replaced for another $400. And it suddenly occurred to me that I had paid for extended warranty on OTIS2. So after multiple phone calls back and forth, I believe that some of my bill will be covered by that policy. So tomorrow they may have OTIS2 done – tires are done – and I may only need to pay about 1/2 the bill. That makes it a better Christmas afterall!
There is a movie coming out called “Nomadland”. It’s all about being a Nomad and stars Frances McDormand. I LOVE HER! She is such a great actress and I’ve read where Academy Award has been bantered around. Anyway, I’m not sure when it will be released – I think I saw February, but I’m not sure, but this came up today:
That is Carolyn from Carolyn’s RV Life sitting behind her. I also saw a scene with Bob Wells in it. So it will be fun to watch the movie – I know it will be GREAT!
I’ve been thinking about my life out here and I want to do some more traveling. I know I need to be PATIENT (not one of my strong suits) because of my eye issues, but I’ve been finding some BLM land to try to camp on. I have also found a YouTube guy who does the BLM thing exclusively so he’ll be helpful. Here is a place he mentioned yesterday:
It even has the GPS location on it. Here is the map from my place. I could plan a trip to Cottonwood and tow OTIS2 with his new tires and spend a couple of weeks away so I can visit with Ted & Cynthia. There is a bunch of stuff in that area to visit.
You can see where Prescott is located near this place. And Cottonwood is just down Hwy 17 from Prescott. So that sounds like something I might want to do with Metaxa. But probably not until February. And I have a trip planned to California in March. Of course, it all depends on COVID. In the meantime, I might just go over to Kartchner. I’ll see if they are having any Stargazing nights and try to line one of those up. So many choices!
I went out last night and took a picture of the lights in “the hood”.
It really is festive and now that I finally figured out how to set my timer, my lights go on and off without my help! Just read the instructions, Mary!!!
Here is a picture I got off of FB from the CCSO in Naples of Victoria Park’s Light Show:
I guess that is about it for now. I’ll be back if something exciting happens, but if not, I’ll be back in a few days – Christmas is coming! Have a great day and thanks for visiting!
