Good Morning Everyone. Thanks for visiting! I am enjoying the wonderful weather here in Benson. It is in the 50’s when I wake up and gets into the low 70’s as the day progresses. I know that will be short lived and that it will soon get HOT, HOT, HOT! But it is beautiful right now.
I was able to take Metaxa to the vet the other day and she got her Rabies shot. We determined that she is 10 years old and I’ve decided her birthday is April 1st. I can remember that date because it is the first day of my retirement, 4 years ago in 2017. Time Flies! So she is healthy according to Dr. Sarah (I think that is her name) at Benson Animal Hospital so that made me feel pretty good. She hasn’t been eating her Purina food recently – they changed the formula and she doesn’t like it as well, so it seemed she was living on “snacks”. Anyway, I tried a couple of other types of food and she has started eating Blue Buffalo. I tried to find it at Walmart which carries the one for dogs, but not cats here in Benson. But Safeway had it:
It is pretty expensive. I’m having trouble uploading the picture so I’ll do it later. Anyway, I ended up donating the other cat food to Benson Animal Shelter. I drove out there yesterday and there was a sign saying it was “temporarily closed”! That’s a shame. I hope it opens soon. I’ll keep checking on it.
I also tried something else the other day. I cooked a Pizza in my GAS oven. It was still weird to use it. But here is proof:
So now my pictures are saving as a HEIC so I have to convert them to jpegs in order to upload them. Ugh! Well, whatever!
I still like my pizza cooker and will use that in the future for these pizza’s but I did want to attempt to use the oven. At least I realized that I did not have a fire extinguisher and went to ACE and bought one for the house.
Bill and Cathy are at Yellowstone now – working! This summer they are trying something new – self driving trams:
Now this will be an interesting experiment. Bill and Cathy will be “on the front lines” with this new technology. I’m sure they will have some interesting stories at the end of this summer!
I ordered new glasses yesterday. Bifocals. I’m looking forward to getting them. My insurance paid for half of the expense. So they were under $300. Can’t wait to get them. I think they will be great for driving. At least I hope so. And I also ordered Solar Screens for the house yesterday. I’m getting them put on all 4 windows facing EAST on my house.
Since it is going to get hot here really soon, I think they will help keep the house cool. At least that is what is supposed to be done. I don’t need them on the other sides of the house because of the porch and the carport. At least I’m lucky that way. Once they build the house next to me in the lot next door, it will be interesting to see how that house will shade that side of the house. Right now it is totally exposed to the sun from sun up until about 2PM or so.

Now that looks cold. Better them than me! I’d really be uncomfortable in that cold. They are used to it. Those icicles look like they could KILL! The sky looks beautiful though!
Metaxa and I went for a 3 hour ride today. To Catalina State Park on the other side of Tucson and back again to Benson. She was SO good. Talked to me a little bit but not much. I took a video of her. I’ll try to insert it here. I also took some pictures and picked out a couple of sites I liked at the Campground. There are many “pull throughs”.

This camper is one that Joe & Kait Russo talked about a couple of years ago when I was looking for a small camper to fit in the garage. It would have fit, but it was made in Canada and would have been about 2 years before I could get one. Obviously, THAT never happened. And if I remember correctly, it was pretty pricey and didn’t have a bathroom – just had a port-a-potty. That would never do either. But I do remember the roof raised up and created a beautiful view out of the camper. Let me see if I can go find that video – I see it pop up every once in a while on YouTube.
