RV Life with Mama & Papa #15 Friday, April 30, 2021

Good Morning Everyone!  So happy to be here today!  That’s how I start my “share” on ZOOM.  Had a great meeting this morning with my friends in Naples.  At least the meeting started in Naples, but there are people from upstate New York, Alaska, Illinois and Arizona.  So this is an exciting post for me.  It is NUMBER 700!  Wow – can’t believe I’ve posted that much.  It’s fun to go back to the beginning (36 pages of postings) and it’s interesting to see what I was doing back in 2014 when I started this.  This morning when I logged on there were 12 messages.  All from “trolls”.  I can tell because it indicated that they were responding to a post I made in May of 2016.  I wonder where all those people are and why the same post pops up for them.  I guess I’ll never understand the internet.  Don’t need to I suppose.

I’ve been commenting on my FB groups about how tough it is for me to back in Mama Bear:

It is so tough with these electrical boxes on the side of my property.  Plus I need to put Mama Bear in with Papa Bear being at an angle.  I practiced the other day and got her in place but now I’m worried about getting her out on Monday in preparation of going to Patagonia Lake State Park for 3 nights.  That cable post is taking a beating from Papa and Mama.  It doesn’t seem to hurt them much, but the post is leaning over pretty badly.

This morning I got this picture to help with backing up:

Found this on a post on FB.  I’m going to keep it in Papa Bear.  Also I decided to try this:

It is an additional back up mirror that I’m hoping will help me see when I back up.  We’ll see if it works.  If it does, I’ll probably buy another one for the passenger side.  I may practice again today with backing up.  Bill said I can back Mama into his side yard.  I may try that today.  Every time I go up to Snowbird Hill, some “kind” bystander comes by and gives me a little advice.  They mean well.  I just need to allow them to “do their thing”.

This is the other thing I have to help me direct Mama Bear – her driver side tire needs to follow this:

It is a BIG HELP – Thanks Bill for the idea.   Also, he gave me the idea of taping the broom handle to the Cable Box so I can see it when I back up in Papa Bear.  It is supposed to be close to 80 today so it would be a good day to practice.  I want to time myself to see how long it takes to get going on the road after hooking up and pulling out.  My guess it takes about an hour.  Fortunately, Patagonia Lake State Park is only about an hour away and I don’t suppose I can check in much before 3.  I would guess whoever is in the site doesn’t need to leave until NOON.  So I’ve got plenty of time to work it out.  Plus, I’m bringing Metaxa for this trip and that takes a bit more time to get her settled into the back seat:

I guess I don’t have a picture of her in the back “Seat”  I know I have a video of her there:

She was so good on this trip.  So I’ll need to get her used to riding in Papa for my summer adventures.  I heard from Susan yesterday and she bought a Jeep Liberty 2010 to tow behind Mariah.  She’s very excited about it.  She said it was white and she is picking it up today.  She said she would send a picture of it.  I told her not to worry about getting the Blue Ox installed before this summer because we would have Papa Bear for our adventures.  Things are pretty backed up these days because of COVID!  I found that out myself because I wanted to get my first “free” oil change in Papa and they were a couple of weeks out.  So I’ll call them back after my trip next week to get that done.

Took Mama & Papa around the neighborhood.  Took FOREVER to get her back in her space.  SO FRUSTRATING!  Plus I hit the cable box and now Barb doesn’t have internet or cable – my fault.  I sure hope COX gets out here today since it’s FRIDAY – I’d hate for it to be out over the weekend.  Rick is “on it”.  I told him I’d be happy to pay for burying that cable to get rid of that BOX that is really IN THE WAY!  UGH!!!!!!!

Bill and Cathy are at “home” in Yellowstone.  Look at their site:

At Home in YNP
Threading the needle

Look at the way their slide comes out over the snow!!!!! They are expecting more snow on Sunday. Better them than me. It got up to 80 today here.

So I plugged in Mama Bear and the microwave didn’t work. After troubleshooting on FB I reset the breaker and it reset the microwave. But I did discover something I didn’t like: A FAKE Socket:

Plugged up plug – fake socket

So now I’m wondering about the electrical system.  I have had issues with the USB connections.  It seems that they work for a while and then shut down.  I switch the plug and it works for the chargers.  So I’m not sure if it really shuts down or whether my impatience is the problem.  I’ll try to figure it out and pay better attention.

Susan got JOE – her tow vehicle.  She is a beauty!  I can’t get it to post here.  Let me try another way.

Finally!  I had to copy and paste it!  UGH!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD:  Roxie playing Churchill

Roxie playing Churchill

Such a cutiepie!  I asked Dick if he had Roxie meet with Riley for “playdates”.  He sent me this sweet memory:

Aunt Pat & Riley – 2015

I remember when Riley was adopted by Luann.  Such a sweet dog.  That was back when I had Wylie and I thought it was cool that they chose such a great name for their dog.  In case you forgot:

Wylie sunning herself in Daisy.  Oh and by the way, I heard from Judy who bought Daisy.  She said she made it to Wyoming but had a blow out on the way and it tore up the side of Daisy somewhat.  I don’t know how much damage there was, but she was safe.  Boy – I knew that the tires would be the first to go.  I hope she is spending the money on 6 new tires.
