Good Morning Friday, February 27, 2015

Good Morning World,

I’m very excited today – it’s FRIDAY and I’m looking forward to my “long” weekend.  I’m off on Monday and guess what?  My guest bedroom is having a makeover.  My elf on a shelf is back at it:

My "Elf of a Shelf"!

My “Elf of a Shelf”!

We’re going to pick out a very light blue to do the room.  We picked out a blue last week, but it was too dark.  On to the next color.  We’ll be going to ACE again.  I’m excited about that.  I think we should choose a rosie light redish color for the bathroom.  There is a rose color in the guest bed spreads so I think I want to pick up on that.  Here is what those bedspreads look like.  What do you think?

I’m leaving it up the the “expert” Dick, but I hope he’ll agree.  It would be cool to look down the hallway and see a “splash” of color don’t you think?

Now I’ll have a “before” and “after” picture.  Whether they’ll be a cat in it, who knows!  That’s Wylie!  Namesake to this blog!  She is my “lap cat”.  She loves to get on my lap while I watch TV or take a nap on the couch.  I’ve had her the longest.  I think she’s about 12 or 15 now.  Not really sure.  But I love to have her sleep on my lap when I’m napping.  She also has her little space on the bed up by my head at night.  The other two sleep at my feet so we’re all cozy in the bed at night.

So last night was the 61st Anniversary Dinner of the Naples Group.  It was wonderful.  My table was, Bill S., Steve E and Anna E, Maggie, Steve, Roy and Chris (the new one – “date” of Roy).  Roy was so cute.  I saw him before the dinner when I was coming in at 3:30PM to help set up.  He told me he was excited because he had “sort of a date” for the evening.  I asked him whether I should look for a boy or a girl.  He didn’t like that all that much, but he laughed about it.  Anyway, Chris came and she was lovely.  She moved down to Naples with a “guy” and that didn’t work out.  She has a Masters in Counseling.  (As an aside – I just went to Siri to find out the spelling of counseling and then I asked for the definition and Siri “thanked” me for asking – that was new!).  Anyway, it was a wonderful time.

Polly made the centerpieces again.  Last year she made a candle with the “Man on the Bed” picture.  This year she made colorful candles with AA words on them.  They are really great.  I suggested she put a label on the bottom that says something that suggests a “collector’s edition”.  This is what came of that:

Second Edition Candle Holder

So now each year, there will be a reason to “take them home”.

Anniversary "Editions"

Anniversary “Editions”

I can’t be sure anyone notices the “bottom” of the candle but they might.  So now we’ll see if we make these candles every year from now on.  It will be interesting to see.  I’m noticing that the group has their own ideas about how to run the Anniversary Dinner and it’s difficult to make changes.  Lot’s of personalities involved.  I was surprised that they were “still” discussing the “format” of the evening and how everything was going to happen.  It would be nice to have a “notebook” like we have for the Gratitude Dinner, but I’m not going to suggest that or I’ll end up doing it.  So here are the candles from this year and last year.  I love them and I’m going to display them on the Grapevine Display when it “goes out”:

2014 Edition

Time is up for today.  Last night was wonderful and the speaker was fantastic.  Butch!  I’ve been listening to his tapes.  It’s interesting to hear “professionals”.

Have a beautiful day and thanks for stopping by!

With not a speck of talent for choosing paint color or for remodeling, placing furniture, etc., I DO admire those who have this ability to “see” the designs and their hues by looking at a paint chart on ACE wall, or shopping for furniture or designing a kitchen. Two people I know are Mary B, and a specially talented artist, Don S.

I just wrote “Josh-in-jail”. He had asked, What do four men do at breakfast on a Friday morning? I told him we eat a little, tell a few jokes, a couple tall tales, and say “fuck” a lot. Hope the restaurant lets us continue our Friday morning sessions.

That paragraph was certainly off-topic but I’ll leave it anyways. Truly, only other comments I might make would be on the Anniversary Dinner, the Vase-Table decorations –by Polly– beautiful. And also the table-company was just right, food, Speaker Butch Excellent, and the “music” was ear-splitting Rock-and-Roll and Rap–both of which I love…

In a hurry, I’ll close. Got to take some coffee to a friend!
