Good Morning World,
Made it to FRIDAY again! I have come to love my Fridays. They are “catch up” day at work and at the end of the day, we have a music program from 3:30 to 4:30 and I get to end my day – since I leave at 4 – listening to music and watching our residents enjoy themselves. It is really a great way to end the week. And this has been a week of lots of challenges for us. But the great news is that we had that dreaded survey yesterday and we got through it without any citations – that is what you want, and we were done in time to do the “Best Friends” presentation and didn’t have to cancel it at the last minute which I was concerned about. So life is again motoring along at work.
Speaking of motoring along…….Rose is at the hospital again. Brakes this time – needed new spark plugs (Check engine light), some kind of old pan (10 years old), brake fluid hoses (my brakes were scary!), needed a loaner car but there wasn’t one on Wednesday when I wanted to take the car in, but I prayed about getting to the dealership in one piece on Thursday, and Rose limped along and I got there and there was a wonderful 4 door BLACK Jetta waiting for me! So I’ve been driving that big beast for a couple of days! It even has a back up camera. A push button starter with a “smart key” and a super fast AC! But Rose is supposed to be fixed today, so I’ll be returning it. It barely fits in the garage:
I could never get the laundry done if this car was in my garage. Rose fits in just right and lots of room for the laundry basket. But I must confess a new car is pretty dreamy.
Our good friend and fellow Brown Bagger Jim Cantwell died yesterday. He had been having health issues recently but the culmination was a bad fall at the 24 Hour Club where he knocked his remaining bad teeth out and broke his hip. Not sure what happened to him with his hip thing, but Steve K said he was on “Hospice” which usually means the end stages. He was a big part of my sobriety. He was there when I walked through the door of AA and his hand was always out. He was the constant coffee maker. He was married to Maryann who developed Alzheimer’s (I believe) and her family took her from him to live with them. At first, I thought how strange, but as I think about it, Jim wouldn’t have been able to care for her as her disease progressed, so maybe it was the best decision. I loved the story about Jim and the “mustard in the eyebrows” story when he was drunk and was Baker Acted. I think when I cam in he had around 15 years. Betsy noted he was “just about” 90 years old. God Bless the Poet of the Brown Bag:

Love this picture – always in the same seat after having made the coffee at The Brown Bag – came in at 11 and started the coffee for the Noon Meeting. God Bless Him! Here is a poem by Jim C.
Seek….
And you will find.
God made you;
We’re of His mind.
Blessed be….
His work is done.
You are the gift…..
Do good, have fun.
Jim C.
Time for me to get rolling. See you soon! Thanks for visiting.

Yesss, may Jim rest in peace. I’d known him for more than 20 years. Saw him in rehab (after broken hip) and said to myself, death would be a blessing…and so it is. +
Since stress probably kills–sooner and more often than we realize–you are hopefully relieved from a whole bunch of it. Remember the phrase, “Grant us peace”…or “Peace be to you!” Throughout history stress has been recognized for what it is, and prayers said for it’s deletion.
Just a beautiful memorial for Jim, Mary, using one of his own THOUSANDS of itsi-bitsy poems, which actually are profound thoughts…each one.
Bye for now, with thoughts of “www”

Peter Fleming said there was going to be a service for Jim at the 24 Hour Club at 3:30 on Sunday, March 8th. I’m looking forward to getting the “suitcase” of Poems from Jim. Another “project” for me! Love being busy!
