I was reminded this morning that it is 22222. WOW! That will never happen again in my lifetime. Our lucky day I guess.
So I think I mentioned that Jack and I were looking at property in Tucson. He had decided he wanted to move back to Tucson from Benson before next winter. It’s too cold and windy here for him. I think it might be due to the blood thinners he is on and his medication for his blood pressure. Anyway, I’m inclined to agree that it is cold here in the winter – at least it has been this year. So we found a place that is a townhome and we put an offer on it that was accepted. We’re going to have the inspection on Thursday. We found the place and put an offer on it on Valentine’s Day and we’re inspecting it on my mom’s birthday on the 24th. All of the time we’ve been together it’s been things like that which are happening. I know it’s only been 4 months, but we are getting along well and seem to be in a good space. I must say, I love my place here in Benson so I’m keeping it for a while so I have room to “store” my furniture and DAISEE2. We can get back to Benson from Tucson in about 40 minutes. We’ll keep camping from here. At least until I feel the time is right to sell my place. I’m not ready to do that yet. I am looking forward to being in Tucson. It’s a beautiful little city and the mountains surrounding it are magnificent. I’ll be happy to be in a place where you can get somewhere in 10 minutes rather than what we have to do now from Benson. It’s either going to Sierra Vista or Tucson from Benson. Each place is about 40 minutes away.
Here is the place: That is “astroturf” as grass – love it! It’s in the back yard too!

It is really a cool place. It has a two car garage which the truck can fit into. That is HUGE! Since living in Florida, I am used to being in townhomes – sharing a wall with neighbors. This development has 58 units. Not as large as Shadowood Villas (99) but bigger than Naples Marina Villas (only 6). This is one of the main reasons we like it:
THE VIEW:

We had been looking at property that would accommodate Daisy and have space for Jack to have a “hot rod”. Then we decided (with the advice of Bill) to keep my place for at least a year. So now that allows us to have a place that is better suited for our “old age”.
This is another reason we like this place:
It is about 300 square feet larger than my current place. I can have my own office space (the second bedroom) and Jack can have an office too. It’s an alcove in the master bedroom:

The place is designed like an adobe home Santa Fe style. Most of the houses we were looking at were built in the 60’s and 70’s. This one was built in 1982. The AC is only 2 years old. We’ll check on the hot water heater on Thursday.
So the question from Bill is, am I ready to share my life and space with another person. I keep praying about it. I believe I am. Jack is kind and confesses to love me. Based on his track record (4 marriages and divorces) it seems he falls in love a lot. I can’t say I do the same. But I think I realize that I’d like to share my life with someone in my old age. I think I could be alone too, but do I want that? Time will tell. So far it’s working out well. Oh, and did I tell you he likes cats? Here is Odie – his Maine Coon:

We’ve brought them together a couple of times. Metaxa in his space. A little hissing went on, but not too bad. We’ve subsequently decided to put them together in the Tucson house since both of them won’t have a “territorial” problem since it is new to both of them. So it should be fine! Odie is a real shy kitty. He hides under Jack’s bed most of the time. I’m just grateful that Metaxa is a lot more sociable. She will even sit on Jack’s lap at times.
The kitchen is really cool. It is a square and has room in the middle for an island/table. It has tons of cabinet space and 18 drawers (this is in the description of the place):

So I think this is a good move for us. It will certainly be nice to be in a place where you can get to Costco, Safeway, Walmart, Best Buy, etc without a huge investment in time on the highway. Traffic sucks in most of the city, but that is the trade off. From where we are, we can get to Saguaro National Park in about 20 minutes. State Parks (Catalina and Lost Dutchman) are nearby for camping. Also we have Gilbert Ray Campground close by. It’s very exciting!
Continuing this on Friday, February 25, 2022. We had the inspection yesterday. It was really thorough. The company is named Brick by Bryck. They are really good. We arrived at 1PM and the guy, David, was there already. First thing was the roof. I got his report in my email this morning – it is 68 pages. Not going to print that out, but will go over it with Jack later today. I have to work today at 11:30 so not sure when that will happen.
The water heater is 24 years old – much older than a water heater should be. That was really the only issue we’re concerned with. The current owner has agreed to replace the water heater before we close. That is HUGE too! So now we wait.
I’m going camping with B & C and Rich on Wednesday. Jack can’t come again because of Board business. It might be too cold for him anyway. It will be dry camping at Parker Lake. We’ve camped there before. I think it was the spot where we all fit on a piece of property that accommodated all of us. Let me see if I can get a picture of it.

This is the picture of Daisy at Parker Lake:

I guess that is about all for today. Thanks for visiting!
