Good Morning Everyone,
Today is Administration Professional’s Day. That’s a “mouthful”. But that’s what I am and it’s nice to have a whole day to celebrate it. Maybe I’ll call in sick today! Not really, I’d never do that. As a matter of fact, I’m being taken to lunch with my boss, Lily, Millie (DON) and Patti (ECC Supervisor). This is the “exec” team at OT along with Becky who I’ve talked about before (Activities). This is the kind of thing that Becky does to brighten the day for all of us at work!
Remember these?…….
Anyway, I’m grateful to be working at such a fantastic place. I know I bitch about it a lot, but truth be told, it’s the best place I’ve ever worked, even better than my own place back in the day! Moorings Park is a fantastic place. Right now we are converting all the Comcast services with Direct TV. It’s a nightmare – especially in our neighborhood with people who have “memory” issues (myself included). We are also taking over the the phone lines which is causing problems too. Plus we’re upgrading the fire suppression system, not to mention renovating Lilac Wing into our new Memory Care Neighborhood. Then of course there was the collapsed pipe issue going on and the Clinic had to be relocated into our Arts & Crafts room for a month. Now things are getting back to “normal” – sort of. I was talking to a guy that is helping us with this computer/tv/phone/IT “thing”. His name is Colin Little. He was a student at Community School when I worked there. His dad is on our “BOD” and the kid is smart and knows his “stuff”. Anyway, I was talking to him yesterday when he was dealing with one of our residents computer problem (she is 101 and still using the computer for all kinds of things – especially email) and I asked him if he remembered the Amanda Mueller “kidnapping” that happened at CSN when he was there. He thinks he does, but he may have been a lot younger when it happened. Anyway, I was telling him that all of these work guys traipsing around the place all day long reminded me of that time. There were a bunch of guys “pretending” to be telephone service guys walking in and out of our office at CSN and then somehow they managed to grab Amanda Mueller and kidnap her right from our campus. It was a “business” deal gone bad with her dad – John Mueller (very successful realtor in town). Anyway, it ended up okay as she was taken to the Winterpark Apartments on Davis Blvd and found safe and sound – but we were all pretty devastated about it. I remember having to drive to Miami to testify. I had gone back to CSN on a temporary basis, when they lost their secretary and needed some extra help. So that must have been around 1987 or something like that, I wasn’t divorced yet, but I would be shortly, so that was probably the time frame. Anyway, it was something I don’t want to repeat ever again!
So now I’m going to get going. I’ve run out of time, but still need to send out a reminder to the GSR’s about our meeting next Wednesday. Then I’ll send another reminder next Tuesday. Got to get rolling on that. So have a beautiful day today and thanks for visiting!

Mary-Girl, YOU’VE lived a lengthy and varied history in Naples, Florida.
SO interesting–all the people you know–and who know/remember you. Makes for special interesting reading for another (me) who has lived here since 1964. Thank you.
Congratulations on “YOUR DAY”, Administration Professional! Do you know, not long ago was a statistic that 94% of the people who go to work every day in the world do NOT like–some even HATE–their jobs. Among the people I know, it’s probably around 50% of those who really enjoy what they do.
What I’m saying is, it is refreshing to hear and read from one of those who appreciate their work and workplace, and people who surround them during their workday. What a pleasure it is to “know” there are still HAPPY Peeps in the world who realize the fact that everything is NOT perfect, but WILL BE perfect in the end…and it is not yet the END!!!
Now isn’t that a good place to end–grin!
