#215 Good Morning Saturday, May 23, 2015

Hello World,

It’s been almost a week since I’ve posted.  It’s interesting how things begin to settle down.  I think if I go back to the beginning of this blog and check my posts (214 other posts – whew – that would be a lot of reading) I’d see that I posted everyday – since it was “new”.  But now that I’ve been “at” this a while, I don’t feel the need to write a blog as often.  But I think I will go back, because I’m wondering about the first day I posted and what that was like.  I’ll be right back……..oops!  It won’t let me do that.  So I’ll need to “publish” this and then go back.

So Jonny and Ale are on another cruise in the Greek Isles this time.  Here is the “greatest” selfie I’ve seen of them!

Nice selfie!

Wow – that was interesting.  The way it came in to the blog was “HUGE”.  I had to shrink it.  Anyway, I’m happy for them.  Again, Ale is posting great pictures and I’m totally amazed at her wardrobe.  She has some BEAUTIFUL clothes.  I should just be there one time when she sends out her stuff to “goodwill”.  Her hand-me-downs are amazing!  I suppose she gives them to her daughter.  I think the cruise must be finished this weekend.  Wonder where they’ll go next?

Need to give equal time to Bill and Cathy.  They are now settled in their “summer” place near Yellowstone.  I would guess the Memorial Day weekend will be busy for them.  Here is their place:  (I have to go find the picture on FB) – be right back…….

I have to say, FB is really amazing to me.  I get to live vicariously through the adventures of my brothers and their wives.  I’m grateful for the busyness of my life, but love to see how they spend their time and if it wasn’t for FB I’d miss out on a lot of their lives.  It’s really something for younger families that have grown up in this time with FB as part of their DNA.

Just saw this on FB.  This is one of our Therapy dogs at Moorings Park (specifically Orchid Terrace).  Just have to add this picture today.  Winston is a “winner”.  Just the best dog EVER!

I kept this picture BIG!  I love it when Winston visits us.  He is such a happy dog.  He does all kinds of tricks and Mary (his mommy/handler) posts stuff on FB all about him.  He does agility tests too and wins all kinds of contests (I think) but he is just such a “winner” to us.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture!

So this week we opened Memory Care at Orchid Terrace (MCOT).  The week started with our “Open House” on Monday.  Here is a FB picture of this event:

Celeste Lynch is our “Director of Wellness”.  I’m “friends” with her on FB.  She posted this picture on Monday.  This display “poster” is really awesome.  They can take it to all kinds of “fairs” in the future.  Great marketing tool.  Anyway, we’ve opened the unit with 4 new residents living there now.  We have space for 16.  By the end of next week there will be 7 residents.  I have no doubt the place will be full in a few months.  My anxiety level has increased as I now need to manage (with the help of Lily, Patti and Millie) 3 schedules.  The Nurses, the RCA’s and now MCOT.  We’ve recently discovered that we need to limit some of our “OC” (On Call) partners to 28 – 30 hours a week.  This is REALLY HARD!  We need to hire more people and that is REALLY HARD also.  There is always one tragedy after another going on with our “people”.  Right now one of our full time people is mourning the impending death of a brother (taking 3 unplanned days off).  Another full time person just lost a cousin and uncle in Belize (don’t think she’ll be leaving because her daughter is having a baby and she’s taking time off for that).  Next one of our “people” can’t work her “overnight (7pm to 7am) shift” due to “High Blood Pressure”.  Can you imagine how hard it is to find people willing to work that shift?  Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!  I’m just glad I have the weekend to “recover” from the stress.  I’m working Monday (a holiday) because I’m so “behind”.  The positive thing about that though is that I get an extra 8 hours pay for the holiday!  That’s gonna be a NICE CHECK!

So Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

Interesting story about this image.  When I send out our “census” at work it goes to a variety of people who may or may not want or need it, but they get the email anyway.  I usually add a saying or some picture to it, to get their “attention”.  Anyway, I sent this picture out yesterday with our census.  I got a response back from one of my colleagues who I never get emails from saying how much she appreciated the picture because her family is a “military” family and it really meant something to her.  Who knew???  So you never know how you touch people with just a small gesture!  That really “made my day” yesterday!

Well it’s time to wrap this up.  I need to dry my hair, dry the clothes in the washing machine, put in another load of wash and then travel to The Current to do a little demolition!  Then take my laptop to Office Max to have the guy look at something I don’t like on my computer and I’m going to see if he can eliminate it with no cost since he just “cleaned” it for $200.  Then it’s on to take the “left over” food from our out reach program to St. Matt’s.  Then I’ll be going to the Naples Group to set up for the Big Book meeting at 6:45.  It’s a FULL day today.

Here is a picture of “THE CURRENT” from FB:

We are not just NEAR Yellowstone…we are IN Yellowstone. Actually, we are located right in the center of the park at Canyon Village. And while the Park may be busy with visitors, we will be busy getting our campground ready to open…we open on Friday, May 29 at 7:00 am!

Sure do like what the “church”–the people–are doing with their new digs, and the CURRENT, so many possibilities. It must be exciting.

You opened this blog post with a look backward to your first, and I became curious also, and to see to see how long I’ve been following.
First post July 5, 2014. Cannot imagine I did not comment for more than 2 months , b/c I do remember reading them, almost daily…yet my first comment happened on Sept 14, 2014, a Sunday. Puzzling. Maybe WordPress deletes after a certain number of days. Ho-Hum!

    Nice post today, great photos!
