#217 Good Morning Wednesday, June 3, 2015

Good Morning Everyone,

So today is the first day of Lily’s vacation (my boss at work).  She is traveling to Massachusetts to visit with her daughter and grandkids.  Her grandson is graduating from High School.  I’m glad she is getting some time off so when I go in July, she’ll be rested and ready to cover for me.  But I still think that they should have someone to sit at my desk while I’m gone.  I think I’ll ask Ashley if she is available during that time in anticipation of it, but won’t go any further than that because I don’t have the “power” to do that which is fine with me – don’t need it-don’t want it.

We’re having trouble at work right now.   We are “short handed” and we now have 3 schedules to manage.  I can’t remember if I “bitched” about that before here on my blog – Steve – you can tell me!  But anyway, the scheduling is a bit of a nightmare.  We now have to schedule people down in the Memory Care Neighborhood and once they are scheduled down there, there is no way for them to “help” out others.  It’s really difficult.  I must say, though, that our MCOT has turned out beautiful.  It only has 6 out of the 16 rooms filled, but it’s a really interesting concept.  I realize that what I do for our division is exactly what I should be doing – I’m not cut out to have that “hands on” nurturing.  I enjoy our residents but there are some that make me crazy and if I had to work with them all day, I’d go nuts.  It’s another thing that reminds me that I was so fortunate that my parents didn’t go through the “dementia” diseases.  They may have died early (in their late 70’s) but at least I didn’t have to go through that frustrating, heartbreaking Alzheimer care.  I must say I’m grateful for Luann and Dick managing the care of Aunt Pat.  Speaking of Aunt Pat – I need to send her a card but here are the latest pictures of her with Luann and her son.

Tonight is our Intergroup Meeting for June.  I’ll be interested to learn if Gary has arranged for the date and venue for The Gratitude Dinner for this year.  More shall be revealed.  But I must say, he was very responsive to our District 20 minutes this month.  They are already posted on the District 20 website and so is the Delegate Report which is 26 pages.  Wonder if anyone will read that entire thing.  I think even Graham (our delegate) was a little bored with it.  It’s interesting to see the different personalities of the 2 delegates, formerly (can’t recall his name and really tried to look him up at the Area Website – oh I know where I can go – to the Courier) be right back…….Don F  vs Graham G.  Two very different personalities.   But I am impressed that they both have come to our District 20 meeting.  It’s gonna keep him busy going to all the Districts giving his report.  He looks too young to be “retired” so I guess he works his duties in between working.  But maybe he is retired – who knows.  But that proves to me that AA works.  All of the information from the Area is passed down to the Districts and subsequently to each of the members in the groups.  People pay attention or they don’t but we can’t say that the opportunity isn’t there to pass along the information.  In fact, I’ll be discussing this at our Grapevine Meeting this month.

So this weekend is “Steps To Serenity” at the Naples Grande.  The Grapevine table will be set up and manned by me.  I’m hoping that some of the GV Committee might come to keep me company, but I’m not insisting that it happen.  I’ll be taking my laptop to keep myself busy while I’m there – the table will be set up in the “Hospitality Suite” since Archives backed out.  We’ll probably be the only table there – but at least we’ll be there.  I’ll be doing the “Guess the Grapes” game.  I’ll not “push it” though.  We have over $100 in our treasury and don’t have any need for it currently.  We should discuss the distribution of that and give back to District 20 at the end of the year.  I plan to go around 9:30 to 10 and then breaking down around 2 so I can get home and go set up for the Naples Group Saturday night meeting.

We’re doing a “clean up” night at church on Friday after work.  I need to let Bill and STEVE know I won’t be at the IG office until 7 on Friday.  I’ll probably not make it at all.  I should go to the “Jim” after work on Friday and then get up to the Current at 5:30.  I’ll spend an hour or so there and then come home.  So the weekend will be busy.

I’m getting excited about going to Atlanta now.  I got my official Badge in the mail this week.  Here it is:

Official Badge for Atlanta

Official Badge for Atlanta

I’m going to “white” out the extra “B” on my badge.  I tried to fix that before it was sent out, but it didn’t work.  Anyway, it’s getting exciting.  Need to get with Jackie to find out about our “cat sitter” while we’re gone.  Oh yeah, Jackie has a new girlfriend named Laura.  An old flame that got in contact with her recently.  She’s moving to Naples from Kansas or someplace.  More shall be revealed!

So I got to go now.  Time is up.  Thanks for visiting!

Your vacation in July–first week is in Atlanta, of course. Are you planning other get-a-ways? Next: Luann certainly has some of your features (pretty girl!). Is she your sister? (Comments on a blog should not begin with questions! Rule one broken. Let’s see, can I crumble some others?) –grin!

Some businesses–like yours–are so understaffed with “partners” b/c such specialized training is required, etc. Yet, there are people literally crying for gainful employment–I know several. That’s life. Meanwhile it IS stressful working in atmosphere of short handedness. “If anyone can do it, Mary can”–I heard that said somewhere..

HOSPITALITY SUITE is best place to set up our Grapevine table, Mary. Plenty cookies and coffee–but of course, I’m thinking only of the welfare of (burp) the fellowship!!! heehee.

GSO printed my ID badge STEVE E E…and I’ll just leave it. (Don’t have any whiteout–which is only for Peeps who make mistakes?
    Hmmmm.

I am not thinking of any other get aways this year. My budget is busted with a new car and scooter. I’m trying to convince Haven to “room” with me in Atlanta. She is on the fence where she is a lot of the time. God will provide. I might keep the second “B” on my badge – we’ll see. I’m glad you are planning to come to the Naples Grande on Saturday but I don’t want you there if you are still sick. You need to be careful and not over do which is how you do things. But we’re not getting any younger, you know!
