Hello World,
So today I’m up at 6AM. Slept in and the kitties let me, although I was up at 4:30 to feed them. I missed them while I was at the International, but Sara did a great job stopping by and taking care of them. Note to self: send her the check! Only cost $40! Happy, Happy, Happy!
I’m pretty tired today. The drive home yesterday was long, wet and stressful. I kept praying for the vans and their trip home from Atlanta. I hope it went well for them. At least there was more space for them without Bill and me. Ralph, Heather and I were on the outskirts of Atlanta by 11:30 AM and the vans weren’t leaving until 2:30 PM so that would put them in Naples 3 hours later than we got back and we got back at 9PM last night. Ralph is my hero – drove the whole way. It was stressful – it rained and rained and then when we got back to Naples it was still raining and it was very stormy. So grateful I was in a car and not a van. Thank you God for getting us back safely and thank you Ralph Wesling for being a “safe driver”!
It was funny. Bill was texting me that he was at the airport, on the plane, landing in Ft. Myers and then home watching the Women’s Soccer Cup. He got home about 4 or so I think. Flying was the way to go. I’m thinking about skipping Detroit next time, and just start going to the Florida State Conventions. Heather and Ralph are my mentors. They keep me thinking about “stuff” in AA. We were discussing the fact that the Big Meetings in Atlanta did not start off with the Serenity Prayer (the first night they did, though). Nor did they end with the Lord’s Prayer. Ralph said it’s a movement coming out of GSO to take “God” out of AA. I have to say, it is very emotional to hear 65,000 people say the Serenity Prayer and the Lord’s Prayer all at the same time. They were the ones that talked me in to become active at the District, and Area level. I really enjoy being the secretary of District and also I enjoy being the Grapevine Chair. I’m website chair due to “default”. I should really give up a few things. Mainly this year I am “out” of working on The Gratitude Dinner. I may not even go, although I probably will.
Steve was trying to send me a picture from his camera that he took of Bill and me at The Dome. It never came through. It got caught up in my “filter” because he sent it from a gmail account that wasn’t recognized. Finally got it today!
As I mentioned before, this year the technology was really great. Look what I got in my email:
I am still trying to figure out how many people attended the event. Let me see if anything is posted on the FB Page. I’m seeing the number 57,000. Not sure what to believe. Wonder if we’ll ever know.
So this is what I “collected” at this year’s Convention:
Really happy I got the Badge Holder. Looked all over – got it for $5. Sober City Rocked! I got a cool Tee shirt too – in purple for The Grapevine of course!
So now I found this on line and think I’ll end with this. Need to start “getting things done” today. Thanks for visiting!
