Hello World,
Today is a GRAPE Day! I don’t have to break up my day by driving to The Current to take the “left overs” to St. Matt’s. Don’t get me wrong – I love doing that little service, but it really breaks up my day since I need to leave home at 10:15 and then I don’t get back until Noon. It is a wonderful feeling to do that, but it’s also nice to have my day “free” of that commitment. I don’t need to do that at all this month, but will begin again in October. I love that outreach also.
So we now have a “church app” for The Current. I’m getting more excited about our church family. I am setting up and doing Communion this week. It’s not my usual week, but Beverly and Joe are out of town for the weekend and we “switched”. I’m not considering this a “holiday” weekend because I’m going to work on Monday, Labor Day. I worked a holiday before and I liked it because there were no phone calls, no transportation issues, no doctor appointments and no EMAILS. I am planning to work on the In Service report that is needing to be updated. My hope is that Lily won’t be in that day. I know Millie will be gone and so will Patti so it will be just like a “weekend” day. But getting back to The Current. The app is driven by customchurchapps. Michael found it and it’s really cool. If you want to read a bible verse everyday, there is one on there to read. If you want to read the entire bible, it’s on there also. You can send in prayer requests. I did one for Patty KD for a quick recovery from her breast surgery last week. There is a connection to our “sermons” on Vimeo. There is a connection to our calendar of events. There is a link to our website and also FB. Of course there is a link to “on line” giving too. I really love it! I’ve always thought about reading the bible from beginning to end and now I can read that on my phone. I know – why not read the entire bible by using the wonderful Bibles I have, but there is something about reading it on my phone in small bites. We’ll see how that goes. This is what the app looks like:
So now it is totally awesome. Additionally, I’m coming around to the fact that we are called “The Current”. I’ve never really felt like I was a “Disciple” although I am a “follower of Christ”, I’m just not comfortable with those “labels”. So to be a member of “The Current” feels right to me. It is really a pretty exciting time to be involved with this vibrant church family!
HALLELUJAH! Look what I just got in my “dropbox” by Gary G!
Now I can add it to the Calendar of Events and the front page of the website. I’m SO excited! A project “completed” finally! Thank you Gary G! I wish he hadn’t offered the 8 seat reserved tables. I hope he knows how to manage that. It’s gonna be interesting. Although I’m sure it will work out. He’s pretty smart about that. Anyway now I’ve got a “project” for today to put it on the aanaples.org website. I’m SO excited.
Bill and Cathy are enjoying their summer in Yellowstone. They celebrate Christmas in July there. Here are some pictures:
Jon and Ale are in Budapest and other places – although now she said they are flying back to the US after their trip. She posts everything to FB so I know where they are most times. So here is a picture of them enjoying this trip:
So now it is so beautiful out today. I think I’ll ride my scooter all day. I already did my “exercise” by riding my bike to Publix. Pecan Sandies were 2 for $5.00 and I have frozen cookies from Thursday and the sweet rolls that Steve gave me the other week that I forgot to bring to the Naples Group tonight. Ali E texted me that she is back from vacation and is planning to chair tonight so I’m very happy about that also. So “Life is Good”. Have a great day and thanks for visiting.

My mother made a project of reading the bible from Creation, through damnation, all the way to apocalypsion…and she DID it–I think! She fell asleep every night reading the bible. It cured her insomnia! True!
What a nice HAPPY blog post–not that they ALL are not upbeat, but this one seems to show you as relaxed, enjoying the ww. GoooD!
GRATITUDE flyer came through. Stupendous news! Do you need some paper? I’m going to Office Max Monda, that holiday you’re working. All my life I worked most holidays, either in restaurants or as musician. Seems like nobody wanted to work those days. I felt like “I’ve Got a Secret” on those days.
Glad to be one to watch the CURRENT evolve and expand, and now that neat programmed website! WOW! I hope it will be accessible to non-members (betting it will!). Glad you are happy about it all. Enthusiastic Peeps (along with a good pastor) are what drive a church community to wherever they wish to travel in the spiritual realm. Have the kind of week you and God plan, Mary.
PEACE!
