#255 Good Morning Saturday, October 10, 2015

Good Morning Everyone,

So it’s been a week since I posted in Wylie.  I think that may be my plan moving forward – just post on Saturdays or Sundays when I have time and then I can catch up with the last week.  We’ll see.  It’s a process!

I’m thinking about Bill and Cathy today.  They are “on the road” to Arizona now.  Will be staying there for the winter.  I am envious of their life together.  It seems so calm and happy.  Here is their latest post on FB:

I think this was taken on their last night in Yellowstone.  They are going to change jobs next year.  Cathy doesn’t want to train again and so they will both be doing “maintenance”.  It will allow them to have more free time without the stress of “being in charge”.  I get that.  I’m thinking seriously of trying to get involved in work with “less stress”.  I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately.  Last week I had a little “episode”.  I thought it was just the “flu” so I went to Urgent Care and they had me do an EKG.  The doctor saw nothing unusual but mentioned something about an “irregular heartbeat” and I kinda remember that in my history in the past.  Although I can’t really be sure.  Anyway, I decided it was time I went to another doctor beside Dr. McLean, my gynecologist.  I tried to get on through our “new” insurance with a woman doctor and although I read she was accepting new patients, when I called that wasn’t the case.  They offered another guy and I set up an appointment with him, but couldn’t get in until my birthday.  So I asked around and decided I would go to Millie’s doctor – Rajani.  He is from India and she loves him.  I got an appointment for Monday, October 12th – even though it is a holiday.  Anyway, he is around the corner from me – where I went for the Urgent Care Clinic.  So I’m going on Monday before work.  I’ll be late arriving on Monday which will be nice.  It extends my weekend a little.

So last night 10 of us went to Ft. Myers to see our group member Ashley in a play called “Toys in the Attic”.  We really did not know what to expect.  I had “heard” of the play, but didn’t know it.  Anyway, it was all about a disfunctional southern family with two “old maid” sisters and a ner’do well brother.  The brother comes back to New Orleans with his bride (played by Ashley).  Anyway, it was a play with many, many monologues.  It still amazes me how they learn all those lines.  I could never do that.  Anyway, it was really well done, but not my “cup of tea”.  Towards the end we couldn’t stop laughing about it.  We laughed all the way home.  I’m sure the actors were proud of their work and should be, but it just droned on and on and on and on!  It kind of reminds me of the trips Bill and Cathy told me about when they would go and visit Vivian where they just sit around and smoke and talk.  Southern tradition.  Ashley played a wonderful crazy person.  They were all a little crazy and they sure could talk!

I’m happy I went so I spent some quality time with my AA friends – an interesting group of peeps.   Learned that Brian (our golf pro) wants to become a Collier County Sheriff.  He’s taken the test and has had an interview already.  He hopes he gets the job, but the “waiting” is very stressful.   Also had a nice conversation with Kathy who is “leading” our Saturday meeting this month.  She was giving me some advice about “getting into the habit” of going to the gym.  I need to do that.  If I go at 4PM when I’m off work, I could stay there for a while and work out and then just go around the corner to the 5:30 Easy Does It meeting.  It should be a “no brainer” but I can’t seem to do it.  But maybe next week.  There are 2 moais I want to attend at work.  One on Tuesday nights (art oriented) and one on Monday nights – Walking Group.  So I think I’ll get to both of those.

A Moai is a group that gets together to support one another.  We are becoming a “Blue-zone” community at Moorings Park.  This is one of the reasons I don’t want to “retire” exactly.  I love being “part of” my job and community.  We all did the “Moe’s Corporate Run” on Thursday.  I forgot all about it until Becky mentioned it.  It was a 3 mile walk/run.  I walked it:

My Time.....

My Time…..

As you can see it took me 1 hour.  That was longer than I expected it to take and it seemed “much longer” than 3 miles.  So I can tell I’m “really out of shape” now and I need to do something about that.  So next year, lets beat that time and I’ll be happier with my exercise routine.  Come back to see how “the plan” goes.

Ok, I’ve gotten a reprieve from taking the food to St. Matt’s today.  I’ll do it next week though.  I’m going to go get a petticure now and I’m taking my scooter there.  So let’s get going now.  Have a beautiful day.  Thanks for visiting!
