Hello Bill and Cathy and everyone else!
So today I found this on FB. About sums it up!
I am trying something else these days. I’m “counting calories”. I Googled how many calories should I have to lose weight. It came up with 1600 a day (for my age and activity). So for the last 4 days, I’ve been under 1500, so in a week or so, I’m going to weigh myself and see how it is going. I started thinking about this the other day when it was announced the Oprah was investing millions of $$ in Weight Watchers. I thought about my experience with WW and thought I’d try this. So far I’m pleasantly surprised that I don’t feel “hungry” and that I’m not always wanting to “snack”. I realized that I “snacked” A LOT!! So now I’m being much more careful. I found out that my favorite snack (cashews) were really high in calories so I’m limiting my intake to only 2 oz a day (if that) which is 314 calories! Yikes! I used to eat at least 6 oz of those a day! I’ve also discovered that my little packets of carrots is only 35 calories. Not as “tasty” but surely as filling. Last night they announced on the news how Red Meat (and pork) and processed meats were cancer causing. I’ve not been eating much red meat for a while. I eat mostly chicken and turkey, but those aren’t all that great for you either. But I’m not willing to be a vegetarian. But I eat a lot of vegies, usually mixed in with other fillers. I love the “Amy Bowls”. They are mostly Gluten Free and they say “no preservatives”. The thing for me is that they are “neat”. No left overs to “store” in the refrigerator until they grow mold! I’m not for “left overs”.
I got a text from my friend Cappy the other night. Cappy is a friend that goes back to Chef’s Garden days. He used to be manager for us. He was SO funny! Anyway, he comes to Naples occasionally and is coming down next week. So we’re going out to dinner, he and Denny and me. We did that a couple of years ago. It will be nice to see him. One of the things I always remember is that his birthday is Christmas Eve so I send him a greeting for his birthday each year (when I remember). Denny is Wynn’s ex husband. He is getting Social Security now so Cappy and I are both turning 65 this year so we’re going to talk about that! So How Did We Get So Old? Wow!
Well, time is up for today. Got to get rolling. I’ll leave you with this! Time to get out the Holiday Basket!
