Good Morning World and Cathy & Bill and Beyond!
Today, as stated above is Friday. The day before the Gratitude Dinner. I’ve made it through the planning and organizing of the dinner without having to do much this year. Gary has done a commendable job and I’m happy to know they have over 350 people who bought tickets. That is great! They should make some money this year even with the $1,000 that Gary committed to having a speaker come from California. So he got saved with that one. It is also going to be a “tribute” to Steve as he was on the committee and a group of musicians who used to play with him are coming to play. I also noted on the agenda that at the end Tracey will be singing “Amazing Grace”. THAT was a super surprise to me and I think it is great. He asked me to read the 12 Traditions which was a nice thing for him to do. There are probably others who he should have asked, but I think it is nice that he asked me. I’m also going to get there at 5PM to help Bill cut the cake for dessert. Next week is a REALLY SHORT week for me. I’m off of work for 5 days – a mini vacation! I won a “day off” at work and decided to extend the Thanksgiving holiday by a day. I’m looking forward to it now that we’ve had SURVEY at work and it was “deficiency free”! It was also an abbreviated Survey which means a team of 3 comes in and gets it done quickly. Fortunately, we have a pretty good reputation and we seem to do everything right. Lily works hard to follow the multitude of regulations from the State which are daunting. I don’t “get” them when I read them. It’s a lot of gobble-de-gook to me. I’m just glad I don’t have her job. They were pretty demanding of me during the survey and I think she felt bad because she gave me a gift of a pad of paper for the fridge and some chocolate yesterday. I have to say, I was pretty stressed and pissy during that time. But the good news is that we got a chance to sign in for the “Health Fair” for our 75 points. That got us through. So we’re good for another 2 years – “Praise Jesus”!
So the other day I got a message from my email system that I should change my password. You never know whether that sort of thing is true or not, but I was doing it before I figured out whether I needed to do it or not. So when I did it, my phone email wasn’t working correctly. I went to the Verizon Store on Pine Ridge Road and this guy “fixed” it and made me download the latest IOS version which I always avoid doing because it messes up things. Anyway, it seemed that I could receive emails, but could not send them. So I went to the Verizon store on Central Avenue which I’ve always liked since I lived down there and the guy there said I needed to add my password in twice. Once for the “incoming” email and once for the “outgoing” email. That was what the other guy neglected to do. So now all is well. I love that feature on my phone. Plus he showed me how to make folders and move my apps around so that I now only have one page of “apps” on my phone – the main page with a lot of folders that contain the apps. So now my phone looks like this:
SWEET! Now I’m going to move them around by name alphabetically. Let’s see if I can do that……be right back!
Now it looks like this: Messaging is the first one because I’m used to seeing that one first so that remains the same, but the others are done alphabetically! SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s a beautiful thing to behold! AMAZING! It really made it worthwhile going to the Verizon store but because of that, I forgot the Book Study at Church. I texted Stephanie to apologize but she didn’t respond. I wonder if that is her “MO”. I hope not. Afterall, she is a pastor and is supposed to respond to things like that. That is the 2nd time I did that and she didn’t respond. I can’t imagine that she doesn’t “text”, but maybe she doesn’t. I’ll find out on Sunday.
So now I’m trying to figure out what to wear on Saturday night. I think I’ll wear this:
But with slacks instead of a skirt. Probably my leggings for comfort. But I’ll have my “short” hair instead. Plus I’ll need to bring an apron so I can help Bill cut the cake. Don’t want icing all over my top! So I think I’m all set for this weekend! LIFE IS SO GOOD!
I’m also thinking about my “slow retirement” plan. First I’m going to see if I can work only until 3PM now and begin bringing some one in to work from 3 to 5 at my desk. Then reduce my hours to 35 a week with PTO making up the other 5 hours each week so I can reduce my PTO Bank. Then slowly get used to just the 35 hour work week and paycheck. Then train someone to do my job and then just get a part time job to work enough to make the additional money I need over and above the $1,100 I get from SS on Beirne’s tab. Next I continue adding to SS so that when I am 70 I get my whole amount which is around $2,400 a month and then I can cut back on hours even more. So that is “MY” plan. Let’s see what others think of it. I go to see John Beane next Tuesday and I’m going to run it by him. Then I’ll present it to Lily and let her know I’m thinking about doing that. Let’s see how long it takes to get the plan really “going” and not just in the “planning” stage. It would be cool to work over at Grey Oaks – the brand new SUPER CCRC. I really want a tour of the place. I’ll get Vanessa to take me there one day.
I’m not sure I mentioned that last Saturday I got Roy to pressure wash my patio (lanai). It was SO filthy. I should have taken a “before” and “after” picture, but instead I just took the “after” picture. Here it is:
He did a wonderful job. He even pressure washed the aluminum along the house (gutters) and holding the screens. I think he even pressure washed the screens. I’m not sure how long he worked because I had to leave, but I only paid him $60 and I think I should have paid him more. I might slip him a few more dollars one of these days. Anyway, it is such a pleasure to sit out there now. Since the “rainy” season is mostly over, I’m really happy I had him do it. He did a much better job than I would have done. He installed my “hose bib” too! Really nice! He is getting close to getting his own apartment. I’m really happy for him. I hope it gets decided soon. I know he’ll be happier in his own place – I can certainly relate to that!
So last night while I was waiting for the speakers to start at The Cookie Meeting, I did this Color Therapy. Now I’ll print it and put it on the fridge:
I can’t decide whether I’ll color in the white spaces that are left. But I really like this one! Well it’s time to go. Have a wonderful day today and thanks for visiting!
