#287 Good Morning Thursday, December 31, 2015

Good Morning World and Bill and Cathy and beyond,

So today is New Year’s Eve!  I just was reminded by my phone that it is also TRASH day!  Be right back!  So this morning this is what I posted on FB:

Wylie and the fan

Wylie and the fan

Gotta love a cat that finds a heat source from the computer.  No wonder my fan gets “gunked up”!  Cat hair everywhere!  But she is irresistible!  So are Domino and Metaxa of course!

So yesterday I went to “Happy Hour” at the New Attitudes Club.  It was great.  There were a lot of people there to share their stories.  There was a guy name Tim there who looked vaguely familiar.  Really cute!  I hope he sticks with the program.  Another guy there is “Frank”.  I used to work with him when I was at The Registry.  I think he was in the facilities department.  He works in an hardware store now.  One of the things I shared was my obsession about when to retire, when to give my notice and how difficult my job is doing a schedule for 40 people for shifts to cover 24/7/365.  It’s a nightmare!  I’m close to finishing them today for the next 5 weeks beginning on MONDAY!  Nothing like having to wait until the last minute!!  I don’t work tomorrow, thank you Lord!  I’m planning to do stuff around the house – guess it’s time to take the lights down.  I’ll miss them but if I don’t do it this weekend, they’ll be up for another 2 weeks since I’m going to Sarasota next weekend for the Quarterly and on Saturday I’m tied up with the Ice Cream Social all day and then Naples Group Saturday night.  So it looks like I’ll be doing that on Friday.  I’m also going to go to the Botanical Gardens.  Doug and Dick and I haven’t gotten there yet.  The last night is Sunday night and I may need to go that night.  I better check how it’s done.  I think there is an early time and a “later” time.  I just may need to skip it this year.  We’ll see.

I’ve been watching “Grace and Frankie” on Netflix.  It’s a series with Martin Sheen, Sam Waterston, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.  It is GREAT!  It’s about two law partners that become life partners and want to get married and all that entails and how it effects their marriages and families.  Sam and Lily have two adopted sons, one black and one drug addicted (Cayote is his name).  They are “hippies”.  There is a lot of “pot”, drugs and drinking in the series which is funny.  Anyway, the show is fun to watch.  There are 13 episodes and I think I’m on #10.  TV isn’t so great right now so I’m watching this instead.  I have to say Jane Fonda looks amazing for 70!  She is always dressed so perfectly.  Lily Tomlin is a hippy!  I hope it gets renewed.  I’m looking forward to “House of Cards” starting again and I still love “Orange is the new Black”.  So now I have lots to watch on Netflix.  Additionally, there is always “Transparent” on Amazon.  That is another great series.  I use my little ASUS computer to watch the shows.  It is nice and light and I can put it on my stomach and lie down on the couch with earphones and watch the movies without worrying about wearing glasses.  I’m going to try to hook the computer up to the big TV so when the “girls” come in April we can watch stuff like that on the big screen.  I think I have all the “stuff” to do that.

So tonight I’m going to go to The Naples Group.  Erica’s grandmother is in “Hospice” so she may not make it to the meeting so she asked me to do the “announcements”.  It’s Anniversary Night.  We have “Cake” tonight and Polly is getting it for us.  John is the “Guest” leader for December and will have the “speaker”.  I love my home group!  It’s a great group of people.  I’m loving that the New Attitudes Club is close to me.  It gets me to more meetings which I’ve been needing to do and I get to ride my scooter there.  It’s really close – takes about 20 minutes to get there.  I even stopped by the hardware store yesterday on the way there and I still got to the meeting early.  Ron Lucas is there too.  It’s nice to see him at the meetings.  I’m trying to figure out what I like to do there.  I haven’t found my “seat” yet.  I kind of like being on the outside circle rather than at the table.  I don’t like having people “behind” me which happens when I sit at the table and they are behind me against the wall.  I like to sit where I can see the clock, although I use my phone for that.  Anyway, it’s a “work in progress”.  There is a business meeting for “Morning Reflections” on Saturday after the 8AM meeting.  I think I’ll attend that to see what is going on.  I think I want to be “on the board” there, but will see how that goes.  I took flyers about being a GV rep and also the list of meetings that meets there.  I’ll keep doing that.  I paid my membership dues for 2016 – $100 or $10 a month.  Discounted if you pay for the year.

So here are 2 pictures I uploaded the other day:

Luann sent them to us.  Dick and Doug sent the pictures “reframed” for her.  She is looking more and more frail.  Doesn’t look like she is eating all that much, but the blue sweater is still sharp!  I read the other day about Alzheimer’s and how much people with the disease attach themselves to the same clothes.  Makes it hard to wash the clothes.

Well I’m out of time today.  Happy New Year everyone!  Thanks for visiting!
