Good Morning,
This is a first for me. I’m posting on Wylie on my way to Montana to visit Bill & Cathy. I’m using my iPad and it’s not all that great so I’ll probably wait until I get my computer set up out West. I forgot to let my bank know I was traveling so I hope I won’t have an issue with my credit card, but no worries. I have enough cash I think. So now I think I’ll sign off for now & begin again later.
I am at Yellowstone now and I’m loving it! My flights were great although why did I have to go to Chicago? My flight back is worse I just noticed. I have 2 changes and I’ll be flying/travelling for 10 hours – holy cow! That will teach me to be “cheap”. At least I can sleep and not worry about going to work again. We have decided to go to Bozeman for Friday and look at RV’s and then I will spend the night in a hotel to get to the airport by my 1:30 PM flight. I just did not want to take the chance of having to drive there on Saturday and leave at 4 in the morning not knowing where to go. I finally got my iPad to give me the mapping and I could put it on my lap, but I still needed to read Cathy’s directions and that isn’t easy to do while driving, nor is it very safe. But I made it safely and I’m now sitting at their dining room table writing the blog. Life is good!
I have hooked up to Bill’s WiFi on Hughes Net. It is much faster and more reliable than my Verizon Mifi, but I did get it to work the first night, but then the thing would not charge. I’ll have to take it back to Verizon when I get home.
So I have been thinking about my renting the RV in November. I’ve decided to cancel the Miami pick up of Peaches because I’ve decided I do not want a campervan. I also started feeling weird about leaving my car at Barbara’s in Miami. So I lost $99 for the cancellation and I went to Outdoorsy and rented a Chateau Class C from Ft. Myers. I may be able to get someone to drive me to pick it up, but then they would have to pick me up and drive me back to Naples. Maybe it would be the first time I use UBER? That’s a thought! Anyway I feel better now.
So now my focus is getting a “tow” car. Once I get that, I can concentrate on the trailer. I’m thinking about a LANCE 14 foot. It will be about $30K new which is more than I want to pay so I would like to find a used one. They haven’t been making them all that long, although they have made truck campers for a long time. Bill and Cathy have one on their truck and it is a 1999 (I think). I’m sleeping in it and it is very comfortable to sleep in. The bathroom is pretty “quaint” – really small but it works. It has a cook top and a microwave. I forget if it has an oven.
We are thinking about a Toyota 4 Runner for my car. I loved the 2 I had before. I can only get about $2000 – $4000 for a trade in for my KIA. It has 53K miles on it and even though I’ve kept it nice (in my mind) dealers never give much for trades, but I want to go to a dealer so I can get support. So I think I’ll try to go on line while I wait for B & C to get back from work today (around Noon).
But before I sign off, let me see if my pictures have arrived in my email. Bill and Cathy set me up on a $70 tour yesterday and I am so glad they did. I got to see all of the lower rim of Yellowstone. I went to the paint pots, the Yellowstone Falls, other cascades, Yellowstone Lake, Hotels in the various places, the Continental Divide, etc. I was on the bus from 8AM until 4PM. It was a long day, but I was lucky because I sat by myself and didn’t need to make small talk all the way – Thank You GOD! So now I can officially feel like an “old fart” retiree. Guess that is what I am now!
No pictures yet. I think I sent too many at one time…………
First picture – me at the Continental Divide:
Here is another picture from my tour around Yellowstone:
So I learned on my tour that the difference between a “cascade” and a “waterfall” is that a cascade turns and twists, and a waterfall just falls straight down. Now I’ll try to get the picture of the Yellowstone Waterfall to add here:
So that is about all for now. B & C should be home shortly. Don’t know if I’ll continue this or start another one on another day. Time will tell!
Thanks for visiting!
