Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors. Today is Day 190 for me. Watched the VP Debate last night. It was at least civil, but Pence kept talking over the moderator and Kamala. He was rude and way to “white male chauvinist” for me. This morning Pastor Michael noted on FB, “Let’s cut to the chase……Harris for President”!! I thought that was great. My cousin Dick sent something about a fly landing on Pence’s head during the debate. I missed that! Now this morning, Trump is refusing to participate in the next presidential debate due to the format – which was a virtual “town hall”. That is fine with me – the debates are really more trouble than they are worth. I find them boring and stressful. Not worth all that stress. So that is my platform for today.
So yesterday my “astro turf” pad arrived. I’m not really all that happy with it, but we’ll see how it works after the play pen arrives. I may need to buy another one. So today I tried this:
I have also put a “pee pad” which has been used on it to get the smell on it. I hope that will give him a hint about what to do. I think that I can deal with this little addition to my car port for the next 6 months. Maybe less once he starts walking and doing his duty on those walks. I just watched the latest video by Michele all about harnesses vs collars. I still like the harness. I purchased the one she suggested along with the leash she suggests. She also said to take all of the “stuff” off of him when he goes into his crate and just have the harness ready to put it on him when he first comes out of the crate. So once we have him in his new “crate” – which is going to be built next Tuesday, I’ll start doing that. Right now, he is wearing a cat harness because he is so small. I bought one that is more substantial and I believe he will be able to “grow into” it.
I just want to show you how peaceful it is in my home. I’ve discovered “Pops” on Sirius XM and I play it all day long on Alexa. I was just on the couch taking a little snooze along with my babies:
I finally remembered to hold the phone correctly so I get a full screen. Life is good. So this is a picture of my MULTITASKING activities. Who said you can’t multitask?
I’m reading all of those books on and off. I never was a good reader but since I retired, I have made it through a lot of books. Many times, I’ll read about 2/3 of the book and be done with it. That is still true.
Today I had a fun experience. I put the crate in the kitchen to do a little crate training and Buster went in and out of it all on his own, I threw some kibble into it to get him excited and he was having fun with it. Next thing I know, there is no more noise coming from the area and this is what I saw!
Oh my goodness, he plumb tuckered himself out and fell asleep in the crate with his tail out. How sweet and such good work on my part to train him to like his crate. I tippy toe around the island to peek in at him and this is what was hanging out of the crate – he was sleeping by the vent by the island. So joke’s on me!
Got an email from Tractor supply that my outside pen has arrived. Yippee!!!! So I drove down and picked it up, but not before I went to the pet department and saw all of the great toys for him. I just chose 3 “Kong Balls” – Tennis balls that squeak. I wanted a small ball for him to chase. He did chase a stress ball I had in the shape of a heart and he brought it back to me, so now I have a way to exercise him inside the house. I roll it down the hallway and he chases it and he is returning it to me. I learned about the growth plate in a puppy that I mentioned before so I know I can only walk him outside for about 15 minutes total. It’s still too hot and he isn’t trained well enough on the leash YET. So this form of exercise will be good for me and for him.
It folds up flat and can be put in the JEEP to take camping so I can put him outside the RV when we go camping. I think it is the size that Suzan & Bette have for their two dogs. I’ve also seen Suzan sit in there with the two dogs to calm them. I think I’ll be doing that with Buster for a while, although I have a chair right by the pen to keep an eye on him. I think I’ll put him in it tonight as it is about time for him to go out, so no time like the present. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’ll be back!
Buster did so well in the playpen. Here is a video:
Such a wonderful dog. I think it’s going to work! YAY!!!!!! I think that is about all for now. Thank you so much for visiting. Have a great night!
