Hello Everyone (maybe Steve today maybe someone else?)
So the #icebucketchallenge is ALL OVER THE PLACE now. I’ve created a little history for myself. I entered in #icebucketchallenge in the search space on Facebook and there are all kinds of places to visit. I went to one in Denmark I think and they were even doing the challenge there on the news broadcast. It’s pretty cool. I saw on the news last night that LOTS OF MONEY has been raised for ALS. I’m getting emails from the #alsafl because many years ago I got involved with the ALS Association through my church FCC Naples. We had a young, talented singer named Nathan Brooks who had a family member that suffered with ALS and he came up with the great idea of ROCK FOR A CURE. We had a concert under a tent and a Silent Auction (run by me since I’d done it so many years with CSN). One Christmas we even walked in the Christmas Parade handing out announcements about the event. We did it for a couple of years I think. So I posted my Ice Bucket Challenge again this morning with the #icebucketchallenge in it so I’ll be put on the long list of people participating in the challenge. We’ll see how much junk email that is going to generate!
It’s Saturday morning and it’s the IG 7th Annual Picnic today. I need to get to Walmart on my way to Wiggins Pass Park to pick up some chips and probably some water for my contribution. I will be collecting the $2 donation at the door and handing out tickets to get a burger or hot dog. Others are to bring more food to eat. Lisa has solicited a number of door prizes – like a 2 night stay at The Waldorf, dinner gift certificates and other things. So it should be fun. It would be nice to get those 2 nights at the Waldorf – guess I better bring some money for that!
Thanks to my friend Steve, I’ve also participated in the Pay if Forward Challenge – Act of Kindness. I have to get a surprise gift for 6 people and send it to them by the end of the year. I have the list of people on my fridge so I think about what to do about that. I really have no idea what I’m going to do, but I suppose I’ll get inspired one of these days. Since it is through FB I can follow the group and see what types of things they are interested in doing and maybe that will give me an idea. I think this is a good use of FB.
Well that’s about it for now. I’m doing laundry now and have to get going for the day is going to be busy and I should get to it.
