Good Morning, August 2, 2014

Hello Everyone,

Well the first day of my reunion went pretty well.  The day was full of activity.  Dick and I took Duncan to the Doggie Spa for a bath.  He was so great.  I have a picture of him.  I’m still trying to figure out where the pictures go on this computer I’m using.

Then we had lunch with Aunt Pat at Maplewood.  The food was very good and our visit was great.  I don’t know if she called last night with a problem since I was gone, but God love Dick and Doug for their devotion and hard work in getting this very challenging situation moving in such a positive direction.  Aunt Pat is just a wonderful, sweet woman.

Dick and I drove to Mamaroneck to check out her former apartment.  There was a cleaning crew that came in to clean it so it could be ready to list and show for sale.  Dick was amazed at how great a job they did and things look good from that standpoint also.  The place is really amazing.  It will need to be gutted and updated.  Nothing had been done in the apartment so it was REALLY dated.  They’ll probably say something like that about my place when the time comes!  Although I have great ambition to switch out the flooring and bathrooms and kitchen.  It only takes money that may or may not be there as time goes on.

The drive to Mamaroneck was nice, the drive home was slow and crowded.  It took FOREVER and so I thought to myself, wow how can you live with this traffic!  Then I think about Naples in season and the same thought comes to mind.  But I think it’s worse up here.

Dick and I drove all over Darien yesterday.  It was a hoot.  He kept saying that is so and so’s house – remember them?  Then I’d say I remembered that house and who lived there.  It was funny.  Bill (my brother) asked me to take a picture of our old house so we did that.  Again – reminder to add the picture to the blog when I get home.  I did put it on FB I think – did I?  Steve – let me know – I can’t remember ……..it’s STARTING!

OK so on with the reunion!  Jenn picked me up and she drove Heidi, Janet and me to dinner.  We went to The Goose in Darien.  It was great.  Our waitress, Ashley was so much fun.  She is a single mom and has a little bitty daughter (can’t remember how old, but young) anyway she was kidding us about going to the reunion.  We were there early – 5:15 so she had time to entertain us.  She talked about all her tattoos and how she couldn’t not allow her daughter to get tattoos until she was at least 18 (I never offered the fact that I have a tattoo – ah another idea for a blog).  She said her father (her daughter’s father that is) was a cop (never determined if she was married or not) but that it would be pretty hard for her daughter to get away with much.  What a sweet girl – just 24 and really personable.  As we were eating another group of Class of ’69 grads came in to eat.  Let the fun begin!

Next – on to the REUNION.  We found the Piedmont Club.  Heidi remembered where it was.  We were one of the first to arrive.  Lot’s of nametags on the table.  Thank God for nametags!  So this is where it begins.  (Now this is where those of you who don’t care about the names of people you don’t know can stop reading, but others may find it interesting).  I’m using the “cheat sheet” from the website.   Oh crap, the list doesn’t come up this morning so I’ll have to try to remember.  Sue Dickman was the “hostess” with the nametags.  I have no recollection of her in High School.  Then I saw Steve Craig – also on the committee and his wife Patti Shaw.  They were great!  Oh good – the list is working now.  Carol Ann Augustus and her brother Nick (he has aged well).  Jay Baker, Bev Bonfoy – still playing softball regularly.  That was amazing – I don’t think I could ever do that.  She was so funny.  Her team has certain rules the best being – no husbands can come to the game and try to “coach” them.  Keith Clark – I sort of remember him in HS and he made an effort to come over and talk to us which was nice.  Chris Eng was there – she looks great – still teaching at Darien HS – forensic science.  She worked in the old HS and transitioned to the new one.  It was an interesting undertaking.

Well more later.  Time to say hello to my hosts and get on with the day!
