Good Morning, August 27, 2014

Hello World,

It is a beautiful morning this morning at 5:15AM.  I have the front door open onto my little front porch and it is actually comfortable out there – I SHOULD go for a walk, but see what I’m doing?  Anyway – Metaxa loves sitting out on that porch in the mornings and I don’t like that sweltering, hot, humid air coming in that kicks on the AC – so today is a treat.  If I recall, it is caused by the Hurricane Cristobal forcing dry air over our state.  So that will be over tomorrow but we’ll enjoy it today.  I’m happy the Hurricane didn’t come to Florida.  We’ve been lucky the last few years – let keep that going!

I get a morning devotional from Richard Rohr.  This morning I read the following:

“A regular practice of meditation will reinforce the neural pathways that bring us to wholeness, while also refusing to strengthen any toxic, self-destructive, or negative pathways. Without such changing of our “software” real and sustained change is almost impossible. We might have new information, but it will be the old self processing that information.”  So this makes sense to me.  It reminds me that I haven’t made it to the Meditation at Yolanda’s in a while – that would have been last night at 6PM.  There was no reason for me not to go last night – I even thought that it would be fun to ride Red to that meeting and last night was dry so I could have done both.  But I didn’t – maybe next week.  (Damn that procrastination)!

It also got me thinking about my brother’s wife Ale.  She comes from Chile by way of Germany (go figure) and she is pretty spiritual.  She has ventured to India on many occasions and has a Guru there and does all types of things.  She comes back with the most beautiful dresses and Sari’s.  She can get away with it – she’s very open that way.  Anyway, she speaks with a Chilean accent along with a little German.  So she speaks at least 3 languages – makes me feel like a lightweight only knowing English and a petite peu of French.

So it brings me to the first picture of today.  She received her Guru (or something) I’m sure she said something else but it led me to believe that her Indian Guru was arriving for a visit – mind you I’m getting this all from FB and her posts are a little broken English, more Spanish and probably a little German mixed in there.  So this is what she received:

Guru of Westin

My brother and Ale live in Westin Florida right across the state from me.  They have a beautiful rambling home in a gated community on the edge of the Everglades.  It’s really expensive to live there.  They have a beautiful back yard that over looks a golf course I think, but their garden is wonderful and they have a big pool and spa with a huge cage for Foster their red Parrot.  It’s pretty neat.  So now they have a statue to worship and meditate by.  It will be interesting to see how this is landscaped.

Next topic.  I have a friend at work who it turns out is a cat lover like me.  I had no idea.  She even said at one point in our email conversation that she would have 100 cats if they would all get along.  So the other day at the Clubhouse at Moorings Park, a little kitten ran into the breakroom and hid in a corner out of reach.  They got a “have a heart” trap and caught it after a couple of days.  It is a little male kitty with beautiful blue eyes – black and white.  SO CUTE.  Anyway, she is trying to introduce it to her other cat Otis (She named the kitty Opie – Andy Griffith Theme – her words).  I suggested she get a metal cage for Opie and introduce Otis to the kitty slowly – but the metal cage is an issue – there isn’t one that we can borrow any longer from Jackie.  She lent it to a newcomer for a new puppy and the newcomer disappeared and so did the cage.  So she is now separating them by keeping the kitty in her office at home.  Second picture of the day – see if you can see him:

He is on the laptop.  SO FUNNY!  I love Opie.  She says he is a “Love machine”.  Makes me want another kitty.  But 3 is enough thank you very much and I don’t think I want to go through the “acclimation” process again with Domino.  But time will tell.  I’ve said I’ve got the last of my cats.  As they die, no replacements – Metaxa will probably out live me as it is!

So enough from me for now.  I got the “like” button to work thanks to Jared – my website book author.  He responded to my question and I fixed it – so use it as you wish!  I love technology and the internet and websites and BLOGS!
