The Labor Day Weekend has officially begun! Coffee to start – laundry in the machine and the cats are fed. It’s only 6:13AM! Up at 5:30 – weekend or not!
So today I’m thinking about what I’m going to do that is different since it is a different type of weekend with an extra day. I really need to clean the house – why is that? But I must say, my new little place is a lot quicker to clean and that makes it not such a drag. It also has a lot of tile that is great since vacuuming is not my favorite thing to do and using the swiffer on the tile is a breeze. So on to that later.
I got my property tax statement in the mail the other day. It is really interesting this year. Last year it shows that my taxes were $894.52. But this year the two possibilities are: $379.82 or $395.73. Now I know that it is about a $500 difference (do the math) and I can’t quite figure out why the wonderful difference. What I’m seeing is that it is based on 2 different “assessed” values. Last year it was $113,543 and this year it is only $68,056 (which is a little disheartening). But I hesitate to call about this, as I kinda like the lower tax amount – would make my mortgage payment go down since it’s wrapped up in that which would be a good thing. And I’m not planning to move or sell the place so it really doesn’t matter all that much, but it is curious. The “Market Value” is exactly the same this year compared to last year. S0 all in all, I should be happy about this lower tax so I’m going to be and let this go – it’s a good thing!
I’m getting 2 new tires for my car today. Back in June I took my car in for a tire rotation and it was suggested I buy new tires. Of course they are going to say that, but I decided to go with 2 tires then and now I’m getting the back tires done so all 4 tires will be new. It just makes me feel safer on the road – although I must say, the tires look perfectly fine to me. Whatever! But I have a Picnic Wrap Up meeting at 10 AM and the tire place is just down the road from Intergroup so I’m going to multi task!
Next thing I’m obsessing about is the fact that on Wednesday, you can go on-line to sign up for the International Convention in Atlanta for next July. I talked to Jackie about it and she is going to book 2 rooms and I told Bill S I would book 2 rooms too, so he doesn’t have to get up at 6AM to do this. Since I’m up at 5:15 anyway, I’ll do it. Jackie and I’ll be on the phone together so that we get the same hotel. It’s gonna be fun! She is going to fly and I think I may do that also. It’s from July 2nd to July 5th. Bill is working on getting a bus to go up which would be a cheaper cost, but I don’t think I want to ride all that way in a bus. I think I’ll research air fares this weekend. I know there are a lot of flights since there are so many connections through Atlanta. I also know I don’t want to share a room. I like to have a room all to myself so I can come and go as I please and not have to share the space – selfish I know. Of course, I’ll have to make provisions for my kitties. But that’s a subject for another day.
