Happy 66th Richard Todd Peebles – August 3, 2014

Dick Peebles on his 66th Birthday

Hello Everyone,

I’m back to reality today after 5 days of non stop fun and remembrances.  I love this picture of Dick, my cousin who just happened to be celebrating his birthday over the weekend of my 45th High School Reunion.  So I was having 2 reunions, my High School one and my family one.

Here is a picture of the family celebration in Connecticut:

What fun we had.  Doug was the photographer for this picture.  And it was a blast.  Aunt Pat is exactly where she needs to be.  She needs to be safe in Assisted Living.  The fact that her home is now only 3 minutes from Doug and Dick is wonderful.  She is so lucky that they are close and able to help her on a daily basis if necessary.  I hope it settles down soon and she gets into her own routine.  Maplewood at Darien seems like a great place.  Time will tell.  Winter may be a challenge for her, but the place is designed to bring in a lot of light so I think it will be wonderful.

Doug and Dick’s home in Connecticut is just beautiful.  Such a wonderful, welcoming place.  So different from Florida and although I’ve lived in Florida longer than I lived in Connecticut, I still remember growing up in that beautiful area.  Having a reunion makes me remember those days.  I know I’ve put this picture in before, but I love it and I’m putting it in again.  My bedroom was the 3rd window to the right on the 2nd floor.  I actually had 2 windows in my room, one that looked out on the street and one that looked out onto the driveway and the next door neighbors.

Taken on August 2, 2014 on the occasion of my 45th High School Reunion in Darien, CT.

This is my childhood home from 1955 to 1969.

That big tree in the front yard is a crab apple tree.  There were actually 2 matching trees when I lived there.  Apparently the other one was removed.  I can’t remember which one was broken down by Dick Ott (the neighbor boy) while playing football in the front yard, when it was a little tree.  I remember my father wrapping it up so it would grow back together.  I think it worked.  Maybe Bill will remember which tree it was – what do you say bro? (that is if he reads this blog).

Time is up today.  Got to get to work.
