Hello everyone,
Today is Wednesday. I always love Wednesdays because it is the middle of the week and if I’ve made it to Wednesday, I can make it to Friday – plus the added bonus for me is that it is a “short” week.
Yesterday I got through all of my emails at work (only 140) so that was very productive. I now have a new perspective regarding my job. Since Aunt Pat is in an assisted living environment, I think about our residents as if they were family. That changes things for the better I think. I am a little concerned about her but I think she will settle in fine. Doug and Dick are coming down tomorrow to Naples to buy a new “winter” home. They sold their place in Wiggins Pass for “cash” – nice! Now they are “downsizing” so they can truly be “snowbirds”. I still think Doug will come down without Dick more often, but now that Dick is retired, we’ll see how that goes. Dick doesn’t care for Florida much – it is clear that he loves being in Connecticut. He just loves his place.
Spending the 4 days with them was really great. I was glad to see how cooperative they are and how much they care for one another. Their marriage is stronger than most. They get along so well, but can argue too and settle things well. Doug has some health issues so Dick handles Duncan’s bathing and walking and feeding. Dick has a beautiful Audi that he keeps immaculate. Doug’s car takes Duncan and is a little less meticulous. But it does have leather seats. Duncan is really big and beautiful. He is quiet most of the time, but is pretty threatening if you don’t know him. He has fun teasing the dogs next door. They run up and down the fence line barking at each other. He likes to chase birds and squirrels. Dick has 3 bird feeders. I’m thinking I may want to put up a bird feeder like they have. I’m trying to figure out where to put it. I think it might need to be out back on the woods line so the yard people don’t need to mow around it. But I’m not sure whether I will do that really because it’s trouble to keep refilling and the squirrels will probably just drop down from the trees on top of it and mess it up. I guess I’ll just have to go back to Connecticut to see the birds. Dick had a feeder right at the kitchen window full of thistle seeds. The “little” birds would feed there and the beautiful yellow birds would come by. I tried to get a video of them feeding, but the sun wasn’t on them to show off their color and I was going to try again, but never did. Now I’m sorry I didn’t keep the other one I took. I forget what they are called – oh yea, Gold Finches. Awesome! There was a wild turkey at their feeder while I was there with a couple of chicks. When I was growing up, we had a bird feeder in the back yard too. We had pheasants come and “dine” there. It was really cool. I guess that is one of the things that brings me back in my mind thinking about those childhood days.
So I wasn’t sure what I was going to talk about today and look what I’ve done – gone on and on about nothing – kind of like a “Seinfeld” show! Here is the picture of the day. I wanted to have one with Duncan. This was what I wore on Saturday night.
So that is about if for now. Will be back tomorrow!
