Good Morning Friday, February 20, 2015

Hello World!

Today is freaking cold:

Coldest day yet!

Coldest day yet!

The other day it was (I see that was Valentine’s day):

39 Degrees on Valentine's Day 2015

I even turned the heat on in my house for the very first time in 2 years!  It was 64 in the house so I’m trying to “get the chill out”.  The cats are cold too!  Wanted to stay in the warm bed that I had to get out of to take a shower in the cold!  I’ve got socks on!  I’m wearing socks to work – somehow I’ll make it work!

Last night I went to the Cookie Meeting!  It was GREAT!  I’m now at the point that I “want” to go to that meeting.  That is a real turning point for me.  I’ve always had the “excuse” that it kept me out too late.  So now I don’t care about that, plus the added bonus is that I don’t eat dinner.  That is good too!  I’ve been told to write down my “story” in AA and one of these days I’ll do that so that when I’m surprised and asked to “speak” I’ll know what to say.   I think that is a great idea.  Last night Bob M and Rick Y (could it be Yono? that is his email) told their stories.  That is another reason to go to the Thursday night meetings.  I would have missed that otherwise.  I’ve known Bob Mulhere for years.  I never knew his story though.  I remember when he worked for the county and stood before the City Council on various projects.  That was in my “political days” when I worked for Dudley Goodlette.  I always watched the City Council meetings and Bob presented a lot.  I think he was some kind of a “planner”.  I never knew he was in the “restaurant” business though – as a waiter.  I guess that was because he was on Marco Island.  I only met Rick when I started going to the Naples Group.  So now I know a little about him.

I missed Polly last night.  I thought she would bring her mom last night to the “open” meeting, but she wasn’t there.  Now I know why!  The two sides of John and Polly:

Happy Halloween from the Whitings!

They seem very happy!  I like being around them.  So playful!  Polly has “boundless” energy and John seems to really love her.  God Bless the Whitings!  Keep them well, happy, respectful, loving and honest!  Life is good!

Yesterday Steve sent me the link to a couple of “Speaker” websites.  I’ve got them as apps on my phone now and I’ve been listening to the speakers while I drive.  I’ve been listening to “Butch” from Canada.  He is going to be our speaker at the Anniversary Dinner next Thursday.  He is funny and has a wonderful message!  It’s going to be a great night!

Well, we’ve made it though 4 of the 5 days that Lily is on vacation!  I’ve been in training all week which was an eye opener for me.  There is so much I don’t know, but I’ve not been “exposed” to it either.  I’m not sure what my “role” will be in this process.  Even our accounting guru Sharon doesn’t know exactly what I’ll be doing with this new program.  But it looks very interesting and if it is on the computer, I know I’ll get it eventually.  Next week there is more training, but I’m not sure I have to go to that.  I guess I’ll find that out next week.

We’re still waiting for “State” to come in.  Maybe today!  Becky is going on a “Cruise” today.  I hope she has fun and it’s warmer where she is going.  Becky is our “activities” person.  Here is her picture:

Well, that’s about all the time I have for Wylie today.  I just saw that Betsy lost her dog “Riley”.  That is sad.  I don’t know what I’d do if one of my kitties ran away or “got away” is more like it.  I remember when Metaxa got scared off the porch and was gone for a few hours.  It was scary too, but fortunately she got smart and came back into the porch.  I’m not too sure I need to worry about my 3 kitties running away.  They have it “pretty good” at my house!

All three enjoying the front porch.

Thanks for visiting!  Have a beautiful day today!

Saner temperatures are in forecast for next 10 days. Maybe we’re finished with this debilitating cold, which devitalizes and lessens our effectiveness in daily activities.

Your blog never fails to resurrect memories for me–in this case the name Dudley Goodlette begins a whole chapter (of the past) in my head. Sleep will not come easily tonight. Of course, it is still early, like 12:45 AM–grin!

Oh my yes, the “Cookie” meeting–so popular! When I “came in”, the Naples Group was THE group in town, other than several smaller meetings–but with the same people. Then the “Club” was built, and options opened up. Thinking about this growth since 1974 also triggers truckloads of memories for me, most good, some not. Many RIP’s…

Hey, thanks for allowing me to carry on here, I enjoy your blog, and take pleasure from having a big, blank white space in which to comment. HA!

And I’m still saying, “www” it is.
