Good Morning Friday, September 12, 2014

Hello World,

Well we’ve made it to another Friday!  I LOVE FRIDAYS!  And for me today, it’s Pay Day!  We have a sweet deal at work, I have automatic deposit, but the day before, we get an email giving us a link to our pay stub.  It’s pretty cool.  The days of going to the bank with a deposit slip filled out are over.  I love that little message.  Even though most of my pay check this time will be going toward fixing Rose.

Now on to Rose.  I never heard from the VW place yesterday so I decided to drive their Tiguan to them yesterday after work.  I really like this Tiguan.  Anyway, the extended warranty is covering the new water pump and a starter.  Sweet!  So now Rose has new tires, a new AC – covered about a year and a half ago by the warranty – new starter, new water pump and all new engine hoses – not covered by the warranty.  So Rose is practically a new car and should last me a while.  But now the thought comes to mind – should I turn her in at this point due to the newness of all her parts and get a new car or should I keep her until the next big problem?  My extended warranty is in effect until 2016.   Being a drunk, the seed has been planted and I’m leaning toward getting an SUV.  Of course, Rose has a bungee cord holding her glove compartment shut and the door handle on the driver’s side is broken so trade in value might not be so good.  She only has 60K miles and she is a 2004 so that isn’t much for a 10 year old car.  So the 10 years is an issue.  I’d like my car to last another 2o years or so and I’m not convinced that Rose will do that – although I’ve had visions of that happening.  Well, I’ll be talking to my financial guy next week to see what he thinks my options might be.  Someday, I’ll need a new car.  Should I do it now or later – that is the question.

I received a comment on this site today from a “stranger”.  I’m not sure where they came from so I put them in the trash.  I think I could get them out of the trash if I think it was legit, but something made me think I shouldn’t “approve” of them.  So in the trash they go.

You know I was a little disappointed yesterday that there wasn’t any show on TV about 9/11.  Although the news had bits of things about the remembrances, I was looking for one of the shows like “Frontline” about it.  It’s as if people think Thursday night football with the RAVENS was more important.  Sorry – I disagree.

I think I set myself up with Google Analytics on this site.  I’ll check it this weekend to see if I can get it to work.  Bob gave me a good idea to “test” it.  He suggested I send an email to my friends in my address book and ask them to navigate to the site and mess around on it.  Then we could see if the statistics have any meaning.  Of course, I don’t really think there are too many people following me on this site (big thanks to Steve and Bob) and what does it matter really anyway?  But it’s a “learning opportunity” and that makes it something to pursue.

Today I have to come home early to have my toilet fixed.  The master bathroom toilet is running and wasting water.  I think I turned the water off to the toilet, but I’m not sure about that, so I’ll learn how to do that today.  Something so easy isn’t quite as easy as I thought.  I couldn’t tell if the water was turned off and I didn’t flush it to find out.  I’ll just wait for the plumber.

I got my extension ladder the other day and I want to go up on the roof to clean my gutters, but I need a “partner” to help me.  So we’ll see how the weekend goes.  I don’t want to be up there if the roof is wet and it’s raining this morning.  The ladder is pretty heavy and I’m not sure I can work it myself, so I’ll need someone with a little brawn.  I think I can get my neighbor to help – especially if I convince him that he should clean his gutters too.  We’ll see how that “shakes” out.

Just got a weather “push” on my phone saying we’ll have wind and rain today coming in from the Bahamas.  So I guess I should be ready for a lot of inconveniences today at work.  So – let the day begin.

Signing off for now.  Have a great day – stay dry!  (No Flex for you today Steve)!
