Good Morning July 16, 2014

I am happy, happy, happy!  I have my laptop back with a new fan installed and all is well with “my” world.  I’ve been able to update the Intergroup website with the July Courier and the July Minutes.  It’s the little things that matter.  Now, I need to get with my California Guru (that’s Bob) to see how to add this website to Filezilla.  I think I figured it out this morning, but I need some back up that what I’m doing is correct.  So Bob, where ever you are – get ready for a question or two.  (I’ll also see if he really is “tuning” into this website and maybe he’ll leave a post).

Speaking of GURUS – yesterday I went to a meditation session with a woman named Yolanda.  Love that name – it just rolls off the tongue.  Yo-lonnnnnnnn-da!  Anyway, a friend told me about it and it is at 6PM on Tuesday nights.  I wanted to see if I could be quiet for 1/2 hour and not fall asleep.  Found out I could do it.  Yesterday the session was about finding the space between a confrontation and a reaction.  If we can find that space, you should be able to stay calm and your reaction should be loving and compassionate rather than negative and confrontational.  So I’m interpreting it as the “pause” they talk about in AA.  I enjoyed the session and will see if I make it a habit.  Speaking of habits, Yolanda spoke about the 40 day challenge to change a negative character defect.  Again, the reference to AA, but additionally, a reference to the Bible and the “40 days and 40 nights” and of the 40 days of Lent.  So, it seems my journey includes them all.  Who knew?

Now I need to go design a ticket for the Annual Intergroup Picnic next month.  It seems the chair person quit so St. William (Bill S.) is scrambling to “make it happen” despite the fall out.  So he asked me to print the tickets – sounds familiar?  Now I’ll be doing ticket control for 3 events – although I don’t expect I need to do much with the $2.00 IG Picnic tickets.  I’ll be doing the same shortly for the Corrections Picnic at the end of October and then the Gratitude Dinner in November.  Well onward…………..one moment at a time!

Namaste! :-)!
