I had the best dinner last night with my brother Jon and his family including, Ale (it was her birthday – 52nd), Pablo, Mario, Julio (son-in-law), Daniella and grand daughter Amalia! Wow – and there are others in his family that weren’t there – Ale, Jr (youngest daughter) and another son that I’m not sure what his name is, but I think it may be Mario also, because the youngest son that was with us last night just graduated from High School and he used to be called “mini” Mario because he was the youngest. Whew – hard to keep track of so many people! With my family, beside my 3 cats, there is just Bill, Jon and me. Simpler by far. I’ve spent some time with Mario and Daniella and her husband, when Jon and Ale come over to visit. I should make a better effort to go over to Weston to visit them. Ale had their gardens redone and Jon was very proud of that. There certainly is enough room over there. Come to find out that Ale and Jon were married at The Registry 10 years ago. I didn’t realize that it had been that long. I remember sneaking Daniella into the nightclub and she was only 19 so I worried that I might get fired from the job when I did that. She remembered that. I think she is a great mom. Her daughter is cute, dramatic and bright. Only 2 and she is working the iPhone already. She got a little cranky at the end, but it was nice to see the interaction between Daniella and Julio with her. Looks like things are working well with them. Found out that Mario is taking a year off between High School and college to spend a year in Germany learning the language. Ale has relatives there. So the plan is for him to be fluent in 3 languages – Spanish, English and German. Can’t tell you much about Pablo, but they were all pretty passionate about “football” (Soccer). Jon seemed really into it too. I have to admit, until this year’s World Cup I hadn’t paid much attention to Soccer. But I really enjoyed it this year and can see what all of the hype is about. Sports is an interesting subject that could be discussed in another blog. So anyway, all of those kids are Ale’s biological children. It was sweet that Daniella called Jon “Daddy”. I think he loves all of that!
The cruise they went on sounded amazing and they were really impressed. A Seabourne Cruise is the creme de la creme of cruises. He shared that all together it cost around $30K – just a little less than I make in a year. But you know it’s all relative. If you have the money it is an investment in yourself. It’s kind of fun living vicariously through their adventures. Facebook allows for that and Ale posts lots of things so I and keep up with their lives that way.
Tomorrow I’ll blog about my adventures at the Social Security Office. So you’ll have to come back………….
