Good Morning World,
It’s 17 days into the new year! Time is marching on. Here is my first picture for today – I’m surprised it got “cold” again! My prediction was wrong about it not getting “cold” again in Naples! So just proves it’s “Progress not Perfection”!
I know it will “warm” up today so it may be a motorcycle day. I washed Rose yesterday and she looks much happier, I KNOW I am! There is something satisfying about washing your own car in your own driveway. Sometimes I take her to the self car wash on Davis, but doing it at my house is a little cheaper and more rewarding I think. Here she is – so beautiful!
Speaking of beautiful, yesterday, Dick came over and “tested” yellow for my wall at home. We went to the ACE Hardware in “my neighborhood” and had great luck speaking to the “paint guy” there. Dick liked him and he actually suggested a “cheaper” paint type than we were looking at. It is the “ACE” brand and is about 1/2 the price of the paint we picked first. We bought a little pint can and off we went. Yesterday, I worked at Intergroup from 4 to 7 and realized that the office looks great painted YELLOW. The yellow at Intergroup is more like Rose’s Yellow – pretty dark and bright. Dick thinks a lighter yellow “little dipper” is good. The second color that is checked:
Here is how it looks with the early morning lights on:
These pictures show how “pink” the walls are in my place. He pointed out that some of the walls were lighter than the others. I never noticed. He is thinking to do that long wall from the garage door around the little foyer I have and then to the sliding glass doors to the porch. There is another wall he tested by the porch, but the color doesn’t show as well as in these two pictures. I think the yellow is just perfect. I’ll send these two pictures to him and let him see what he thinks. Dick is thinking a “flat” yellow and this is not “flat” – I forget the other word but it is a little “shinier” than just “flat”. I’m thinking I like the shinier color. It will make the place “sparkle”. Of course my house should be yellow, don’t you think?
So this is an exciting project – even though Dick will be doing the “heavy lifting”. He’ll have fun with it and it’s something he can do for the entire winter. He is also thinking that the other walls in the living room should be painted “white” to match the ceiling. Once the wall is painted “yellow”, we’ll probably need to get a “professional” group to do the other walls because they “peak” and are very high and I don’t want Dick on a ladder that far up. But that is “phase 2” and can be done later.
The next thing that will need to be done is the valance over the sliding glass doors to the porch. It’s “old fashioned pink” and Dis““““““`(Domino wrote that) and Dick said that Doug can do things with re-upholstery by using fabric and a staple gun. I think I can even do that. Now that would be fun to do too! There is a fabric store in my neighborhood called Boca Bagoons and we can go there to pick some swatches to test. This is going to be FUN!
Well, it’s time to get rolling. I’m going to make another batch of banana nut muffins and do the laundry and vacuum today. Then we’ll see what else happens as the day goes on! I’ll be at the Big Book meeting tonight collecting “ticket” money. Just found out that was part of my “duties” with the Anniversary Dinner – I thought everyone just gave the money to our treasurer Bob – but not so. Gotta love it! Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

It is high time Mary, that you discovered a couple projects to fill in your spare time (kidding!)
My personal choice of “yellow” is the lighter or the so-called “flat” paint which has SOME (a little) gloss to it.
My prayer-of-the-moment is that you are making banana-nut muffins for the BB Meeting at Naples Group tonight! AND THAT I’ll be able to snag one of them. Bet they are GooooD!
Bye.
