Hello World,
Today is Saturday and I am up at 5AM as usual. Cats are funny that way – when their appetite alarm goes off, there is no going back to sleep until food is given. So it’s still dark outside, but I opened the front door for them to go out onto the little front porch and it seems like the temperature is lower today. I’m looking forward to October when I can open up the whole house. I know it’s only for a few days a year, but it’s great. I love my little place though because I can set my thermostat at 79 degrees and it is cool enough for me. My electric bill is only around $60 a month which is 1/2 as much as I was paying downtown and it is much more comfortable. The AC seems to run a lot, but it doesn’t seem to run up the bill, so it must be pretty efficient. Who knows – just happy the bill is low.
I’m going to pick up Rose today. She has a new water pump and a new starter. The warranty covered it all. I’m only paying $106. Sweet! Now there isn’t any urgency about getting a new car, but I think I’m convinced it is a good idea. A couple of things have made me come to that conclusion. First of all, Becky and Lily think it’s a good idea. Lily is looking to do something like that too and she and I are the same age. Becky just thinks it’s a safer bet to have an SUV down here in “Flooding” Florida. Also – Lily was cute the other day and she told me, “God is tapping you on your shoulder to get this done”. Of course, I can’t go against what God wants for me…….! The second thing is that there is a guy at work that is one of our drivers and he owns a Tiguan and LOVES IT. One of the things I’ve noticed about Rose that kind of bugs me, is that when she sits in the sun all day, she really gets heated up. I’ve replaced the battery at least 3 times since I’ve had her. That is another thing that is “new”. Since I’ve had this loaner car, I haven’t felt the oppressive heat when I get into the car and it has leather seats. I think I may go for the lighter color car even though I love the bright yellow and I can find it in the parking lot really fast, the silver or white is better for down here too. I’ve looked at other cars on line and I guess I should try to go out and shop at the dealers and sit in them to see how they feel. Becky has a Hyundai (Sp?). I’m not sure I’ve looked at those on line. So I’ll do that a little later. Now the question is whether I should finance it. I think that is probably the way to go, but we’ll see what John suggests. He will give me the advice and I’ll probably do what I want to do. I think I’ll keep working for the length of the financing, so when I stop working it should be paid off. A new car will come with a good warranty so I’m better off getting that. It’s the beginning of the new car year so the 2014’s will be discounted, yada, yada, yada! So when I pick up Rose, I may speak to someone about buying a new car and trading in. I’ve no other plans for today, so at least I could get the ball rolling. More shall be revealed!
Well, that is about it for now. I’ve got to get rolling and do the laundry and cleaning etc for my Saturday morning chores. It’s gonna be a Great Day today!
