Hello Everyone,
I’m very excited this morning – it’s the day they open up Registration on Line for the International AA Convention in Atlanta in July 2015. I originally thought I saw that it was opening up at 6AM, but since then, we’ve discovered that it doesn’t open until 9AM. That makes it difficult for me because I’ll be at work. I sent an email to my boss telling her that I was going to bring my laptop in to work today so I could do it on line at work. She never came back to her office before I left at 4PM yesterday so I don’t know if she said OK or not. Anyway, I’m bringing my laptop to work anyway, unless for some reason, they open the registration early and I get to register at home before I go to work. I’m already checking the site and will continue to do that until I have to get ready for work at 6:40 AM. I’ve decided that I want my own room this year. I like being in hotel rooms by myself. It’s such a luxury. Those big beds – all that space and not sharing the bathroom with anyone. Of course that could change as time goes on, but right now, I want my own room. So selfish!
Jackie and I have been communicating by “Text” about the hotel and we’ve zeroed in on The Hampton Inn and Suites. It includes breakfast. I don’t care about that as much as I care about free WiFi. It has that too. I had a great time in San Antonio 5 years ago. It was really amazing. There were 65,000 people there and I would guess maybe 80,000 will be there this time – it will be interesting to see. It will be in the Georgia Dome. I just researched the capacity of the Georgia Dome and the maximum seating is 80,000. I remember walking to the Alamo Dome in San Antonio which was fun so I would guess it will be the same this time. I’m still vacillating about going on the bus to Atlanta or flying. Flights are around $240 round trip now which doesn’t seem so bad. I think though, that the bus trip might be fun going up there, but coming back – not so much. So I think I’m talking myself into flying. I’m a little surprised that the flight costs so much as I think that was what I paid to fly to New York in August for my reunion.
I’m having trouble with my Earthlink email this morning. It won’t load so I think I’m going to use my Yahoo mail for this registration. I don’t want anything to go wrong with this. I would dump Earthlink if I could. It doesn’t accept attachments from people who use Apple computers – why is that? So weird. Terri L has an Earthlink account and she was the one that said it came from people who use Apple computers – she’s gone to “the top” about this issue and got no where. The problem with “dumping” Earthlink is that I have so many accounts attached to it. I got mad at them because they upped my charge to $7.95 a month (Terri pays $9.95). Yahoo is FREE as far as I can tell and it has the ability to add hyperlinks to emails. Earthlink can’t do that. But you know, I wonder if I start phasing out of Earthlink, by the time I retire, I’ll have everything converted to Yahoo. That sounds like a plan.
Still no link on AA website – darn!
Tonight it our monthly Intergroup meeting. It is the meeting where we hand out the Gratitude Dinner ticket packets out to the Group Reps so they can sell the tickets. It would be nice if we “sold out” this year. But I’ll be happy with 350. I am not a good sales person. I’ll hold on to a packet, but didn’t sell any tickets last year – except to myself and I bought 2. I think I’ll buy 3 this year so I can give one to the IG office volunteers from my Group since they won’t do it. Maybe we’ll “pass the hat” this year and get money that way. We’ll see. Still a little miffed at that group. Although the other day Tim S said that Katina Bouza (at the Jail) made a request to supply the book and work book to someone in the jail. It was a “suggestion” from her counselor (how do you spell that?). So that is interesting. Maybe we’ll get someone from the jail at our meeting. Jeanne was one person that has been coming to our meeting, although I haven’t seen her in a couple of weeks. Wonder if she went “out”.
Well, time to get rolling now. Have a beautiful day. Stay tuned to the update on REGISTRATION!
