Hello Everyone,

Today is Bill S.’s 13th Anniversary in AA.  Here is my friend Bill:

I sent him a text around 6 this morning to congratulate him.  He is almost exactly 6 months ahead of me because I’ll be celebrating 13 years on July 22.  It’s too bad that he went home yesterday because the speaker was really good last night.  His name just happened to be “Billy”!  Anyway, he was from New Jersey and admitted “punk” and “bully” in his younger years.  I really liked listening to him.  He had a great message and it was all about service – which I believe in too.  My only problem is when to say “when”!  But my “busyness” in AA keeps me sober so who’s to say what is too much.  I heard the speaker on Friday night was OK – not great, but last night he was great!  He spoke about a book that Time Magazine put out a while ago about the greatest people of the Century that had an impact on our world and that Bill W. and Dr. Bob. were listed as part of that prestigious group.  So I went on Amazon last night at 10:30 and bought the book.  At least I think I bought the right book.  Billy kept saying something about the 90 most important people, but I could only find a book with the 100 most important people so I’m not sure I have the right book – but why would they have only 90 people if it was for the Millennium and only have 90 people when there are 100 years to cover and then would Bill and Bob be counted as one person or two?  So many questions, more shall be revealed.  The book arrives for free on Monday!

(Just got a text back from Bill “Merci” – a man of few words – or “texts”!).

I’m going to go down to get some coffee to start the day.  Pretty soon we’ll be starting the business meeting.  It will be fun to hear what is happening in the various committees.  I’ll be interested to hear what Peter will be saying for the Grapevine.  I don’t think I have a “vote” this quarter, but next quarter I think I do as “District Secretary”.

That is better than 45 like yesterday but still chilly.  Don’t you think it is interesting that my phone knows I am in Sarasota and gives me the temperature here rather than in Naples?  I do!  WWW – what a wonderful world!
