Good Morning Sunday, October 12, 2014

Hello Everyone,

This was from Richard Rohr today – I read him first before my other devotionals for some reason so here it is……

Spirituality is always about you changing your own way of seeing and your own way of hearing (not changing other people!). It’s about opening your heart space every day and keeping it open with some form of prayer every few minutes if need be, so that the hurts and disappointments of life won’t close you down. You have to find some practice, some ritual, some silence, or whatever it is that helps you recognize how God is trying to get in, as well as how you may be closing down. What you seek is what you will surely get.

Now THAT is what I needed today!

I got an email from Luann and she sent the sweetest pictures so you know what is next………

Looks like things are getting better for Aunt Pat now.  I sure hope she lives out the remainder of her life in a happy space surrounded by happy people.  I know that is what I pray for her each day.

So yesterday, I learned a lesson.  I thought I could clean out my gutters and figured I just needed a little support.  So I had my friend Handyman Paul Murphy come over.  Waited around for him until about 11.  He shows up and I show him the fancy ladder I bought and he immediately says……take it back!  WHAT???  Anyway, he pulls out his lightweight aluminum ladder from his van and we climb up on the roof to clean the gutter along the back porch (it’s a porch up north, a lanai down south).  So I found that sitting on the roof was OK but don’t ask me to stand up and walk down by the gutter.  I was shocked that it wasn’t so “easy peasie”.  I got a little scared.  So he cleaned out the gutter with a little “pokie” tool I had in the garage and as it turns out, there wasn’t much stuff in the gutter after all.  Here is the “pokie” tool…….

I'm not climbing on the roof!

If you look at this picture you see Rose reflected in the mirror in my garage and the “kitty door” into the garage that the cat’s don’t use, but look out of when I leave for the day, or come home.  I iron out in the garage also, and Domino scratches on the door and wants out in the garage when I’m doing that.  Lots to explore out there!

To continue about the gutters.  Paul told me he has an aluminum ladder that he will sell me for $20 that will work and I can carry myself.  So I asked him to help me get the big monster ladder into little Rose.  I drove it to Home Depot and got my money back.  Now that was “easy peasie”!  Paul is great – he told me that Home Depot ALWAYS gives back your money – no questions asked.  I never knew that but I do now.  So grateful for friends like Paul!

From another devotional today:

And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed,

it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation — some fact of my life –

unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place,

thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.

Nothing, absolutely nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.

This is something else for me to remember today!

I guess that is about all for today.  I’m gonna get ready to go to church.  I think Red and I will go get some “spirituality” by way of Michael!  Have a great day today!

Richard Rohr, my current favorite guru…interesting that you change the “order” of your morning meditation readings, maybe that is a way to sort of “let God decide”. Anyway, I like the idea, HA!

Just read that Glen Campbell is in final stages of Alzheimers. One last video has been released. Hope it is OK if I take the liberty of posting a link here to the song:

Your Aunt Pat (and people who care for her, cheerfully visit,
etc.) has been added to my growing prayer list. .

Mary, I’m not sure, but do believe there is a way to delete comments which you prefer to not be published here?

Received possible 12th-Step call.this morning. Got the typical “answer-machine” response. So I have heard about this one, that people have been telling him to “shut up!” (evidently he chatters constantly. So when he hears on the phone “Shut up”…he HANGS UP! Are we not SO much alike when in the cups of our disease, alcoholism? My father, sightless, soundless, used to say (SO loudly) “GOD TAKES CARE OF DRUNKS AND BLIND PEOPLE!”…he was not a drunk.

Gonna live in “acceptance” today. Stay home (maybe!) DOING 2013 IRS tax return, Happiness is in serenity???
    BYE!

I’m staying in also. Did go to Home Depot and bought 2 bougainvilla plants to replace the PIA plant I’m sick of nurturing. I think this will work better as those plants love direct sunlight. I hope they’ll grow up the trellis and up the Palm Tree. We shall see.
