Good Morning Sunday, September 14, 2014

Hello everyone,

Well it is Sunday morning and I’m thinking about a lot of things – as usual.  I’ve been sleeping in my guest room for a week waiting for the Home Tech people to come fix my toilet in my master bath.  We had it scheduled for last Friday, but I forgot to tell them that I wanted the appointment in the late afternoon and they scheduled it for earlier in the day and couldn’t do it, so we moved it to Monday.  I have to say, the bed in the guest room is not as comfortable as my big bed.  Those pillow top mattresses are really great.  So one more night in the guest room and things will be back to normal.

I have collected money for 25 Gratitude Ticket sales.  Thank you Steve for your 7 sales!  I’ve made 2 – to ME.  I’m a terrible sales person.  I’ll probably buy all of the rest of my Corrections Tickets, but I got a surprise $5 donation at the PPG meeting last night.  Terri L spoke and Bill and I went down to support her.  I must say, having that “bar” next door to the ALANO Club is really distracting on Saturday nights.  I’ve heard that it isn’t as bad on Sunday nights, so I might start going on Sunday nights.  I can’t go tonight because we are having a Christening of Esther and Phil’s grand daughter at Lowdermilk Park tonight.

I don’t really like “baby” things, but I want to support this family.  Plus it is my church that is doing it and they are supportive of us and do set up one Sunday a month.  Esther and Phil are an interesting couple.  I remember when they announced their engagement.  Phil stood up and said “Esther has made me the happiest man on earth”.  So sweet.  Their wedding looked amazing – it was at LaPlaya and they posted things on Facebook.  They work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and do all kinds of charity work.  I really like them.  Let’s see if I can get a picture from FB of them:

So I was thinking about my pet Trigger this morning after responding to a comment by Steve.  He was mentioning a cat he had when he was living alone.  I remember my first cat.  I got him in college and brought him home with me when I graduated.  His name was “Leon” for Leon Russell.  He was a long haired gray cat.  I don’t know what ever happened to that cat – too many brain cells destroyed with that memory.  I was brought up with a dog.  His name was “Trigger”.  I saw on FB the other day a cartoon with a man and his son getting his first dog.  The caption said something like,”Name him something you’ll remember because you will use his name as your password later in life”.  Well that is so true.  I can’t tell you all the “Trigger” passwords I have!  Anyway, I received some pictures from my cousin Dick a while back and one of them was this picture.  It is of me and my brother Bill and “Trigger”.

I must have been around 5.

I loved that dog.  He ran away one time after he ate the left over ham casserole my mother fed him after we all said it was horrible. “Even the dog wouldn’t eat it and he ran away” – imagine the ribbing my mother took on that one!  Anyway, we found him later on and he was so stressed out that he bit me when we got him back in the car.  But as you can see in this picture, he was already showing his age with the gray chin.  So I remember my mom having to take him to the vet to put him down.  It was very sad and I remember my mom crying and she never cried.  But every Christmas I wanted a puppy after that and I’d cry when we didn’t get one.  Boy – what we do to our parents growing up.  Can you imagine, a big ole pile of presents under the tree for me and I’m upset because I didn’t get a puppy.  Never did get a puppy!  So now I have cats.  Love my cats.  They are such good company for me.  I can’t imagine life without a pet now.

I guess that’s about all for now.  I’ve got to go do some ironing before the garage gets too hot.  It’s great to have Rose back from the shop.  She is running so well now and I’m back to keeping her for a while – at least until my warranty runs out in 2016.  Now that she has 4 new tires, a new water pump, a new starter, new engine hoses, new front struts, an AC only 1 1/2 years old, it’s almost like having a new car.  Of course, trading her in now would probably be when I would get the best deal on her, but she does have some issues.  The sun roof doesn’t open (I disabled it when it started leaking but I think it’s a matter of plugging it back in), the glove compartment is closed with a bungee cord and the driver door handle is broken, plus the front drivers seat has a rip in it.  I keep forgetting about that.  So, I probably wouldn’t get too much for her.  I should look that up on line to see what she is worth.  Remind me to do that one day.

Your comment on Sat. came through fine.

YIPEEE I sold my 1st bag (tickets, I mean!). Got $30 next time I see ya.

Pillow Top mattresses are great! Every La Quinta Motel in the country is so equipped. No Mary, I have NOT slept in every one of them.

Maybe celebration at Lowdermilk escaped the rain?

Really cute happy picture of brother BILL and puppie, and you! Also I have some oldie pics, and can tell you–the older ya get, the more fun–actually PLEASURE–they bring!

HA! I thought “triggerct” (email address) referred to a street (Court) on which you had lived–or live now. Funneee that Trigger didn’t even want to go the home where that HAM lived! (Title of a Dog Blog–“Trigger Hamming It Up”

Worth of a car depends somewhat on age, condition, and market, and everyone will say, “You can do better if you sell it yourself! Maybe YOU can do that, but I always shied away from the hassle. SOON, your car will be NEW again, except for that glove box handle–WHO SAID THAT?–not MEEE!

Have wonderful Sunday evening, and , well…Monday?
    Bye!
