Good Morning Thursday, February 5, 2015

Good Morning World,

Today is “Showcase of Homes” at Moorings Park and it’s raining!  I decided to “sit this one out” because I’ve done it for 9 years and I thought that others could “step up”.  I’m not sure how this might come back to “bite me”, but I would guess if someone “falls out” and no shows I could step in.  Last year I had to stand in the parking lot near the “C” building to welcome the visitors riding the bus from apartment to apartment.  I must say, the ability for the community people to come in to see how “refurbs” are done on our campus is pretty amazing.  I don’t get a chance to see many apartments except in Orchid Terrace so it is an education for me too.  Some of the apartments are quite a “showplace”.  I’d love to go see some of the 3000 sq ft apartments.  They are really amazing.  But instead, I’ll be catching up at my desk from taking 2 days off last week.  I always seem to feel that it “isn’t worth” taking time off as my work just “literally” gets piled up on my desk.  No one can do anything for me while I’m gone and things just seem to back up for a while.  But I’m glad I have a job so it’s worth it.  February is my anniversary month.  It will be 10 years for me.  I get my “eval” this month too.  I really hate those things.  But if I want a little “boost” in pay, I’ll suffer through it.  I know I have some “issues” at times – stress related – of my own making.  I really admire my boss Lily.  She can always stay calm and gets “taken to task” all of the time from the Administration and the Residents.  Working with our residents can be frustrating and painful.  With dementia, many times they have moments of “clarity” and can either be happy, sad or mean, depending on the moment.

So today, I’m going to add a picture (or 3) from the “dead files”:

Cardinal in the Snow

Cardinal in the Snow

Is it Wylie?

Is it Metaxa?

Lone Daffodil

The Cardinal reminds me of my childhood.  We had cardinals in our yard in Connecticut.  The male is so much prettier than the female and I remember having “pairs” of cardinals around my house.  I love their “cheeping” and can still remember that in my mind even now.  We have cardinals in Florida too, but seeing them on white snow is so awesome.  The second picture reminds me of Metaxa:

Too Cute!

Of course “my” Metaxa is cuter!  And finally the “Lone Daffodil”.  Love, love, LOVE that flower!

So the other day I stopped by the vet on the corner of Davis and Santa Barbara.  That is where Jackie takes all 6 of her cats!  I’m suffering with Domino and his claws so I’ve decided to take him to the vet next Wednesday to have them clip him.  I’m going to try to wrestle him into the “cat carrier” – I’m already working on a plan.  I’ve asked Jackie to come over to help, but I think it might be better if I just “do it”.  They open at 8AM so I’ll take him in – they’ll do the deed and I’ll take him home.  I’ll be late to work that day.  Keep praying that this works.  I was talking to my neighbor the other day and she said her cat doesn’t let them clip her claws either and she has a “mobile” groomer come to do it.  I thought that sounded like a good idea for Domino, but it would be $65.  I think that’s a little excessive and the vet is only charging $15.  So I’m going to try to do it that way.  Now I need to leave a note for my neighbor and let her know that I won’t be using her service.  I hope I get the information to her before she arranges for the person to come to my house.

Well, last night we had the monthly Intergroup Meeting.  It was interesting to say the least and since I “have no opinion” on it, let’s just say I support Ralph and Bill and I don’t support Joe K and Alan B.  I’m glad I’m not an Intergroup Rep and I don’t have a vote for any of it.  But just one more thing about that.  Holding Bill hostage with a $300 limit in purchasing is RIDICULOUS!  So I was the only “Committee Chair of District” that showed up last night and had a report.  That is sad too.  On the positive side, Jessica was there last night in her “secretarial” capacity, Gary was there and Ken was there along with Ralph.  So the Officers are “hanging in there”.  I hope Ralph continues the course and I hope Bill wasn’t hurt too badly last night.  I know he was pissed because he didn’t stay for the “Steering Committee” meeting.  I’d sure hate to have him “quit” due to those two “loose cannons”.

I better get going now.  I don’t want to lose electricity with this storm before I dry my hair, so I’ll leave you with this today!

No reason why, but today’s blog post just was SO welcome! I’ve been bachelor (until next Tuesday), and after last night’s chaos, I needed to read friendly words FIRST THING. So thanks, Mary.

Much do I admire people like your “boss” Lily, who you’ve mentioned previously. To stay “cool” in the midst of “Der Sturm” is a gift which few accept. (She might be bundle of nerves inside, but I bet NOT!) ANYWAY, she has something I wish I had.

Don’t know if you can do anything about it, but those three sidebar items “Welcome”, “Categories”, and “Thank you for Posting” pretty well cover that “Lone Daffodil, cannot see the flower. (We “perfectionists” see these things, Ho, Ho, Ho. )

I swear there is none other quite like Metaxa. Burt has been going to that cat clinic on Davis and Santa Barbara for many years now–since they opened, I guess. We are very happy with them. (HE isn’t!) I just open the carrier, hold one hand over Burt’s eyes, plop him in the box and close the lid.

Intergroup meeting: I DO have opinions–and judgments–shame on me.: Anyone (Joe) who brags about his 40 years of “service” in AA, has forgotten that NO ONE of us is better, or worse than any other at a given time PERIOD! 40 years is nothing to feel lofty about–I KNOW!
It only means I have not died…it’s that simple.

Fearing I cannot keep my balance on this soap box, I’ll just go away now, and know that this afternoon and evening will be bright and sunny in SO many ways. Thanks for posting, Mary. You always inspire!
    PEACE…and LIGHT!

Thanks Steve. Glad you enjoyed Wylie today and I agree about the pictures in the blog. I forgot about the 3 picture thing and I’ll make them smaller or as a box of 4 rather than 3 across!
