Good Morning Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Good Morning World,

Today is Steve E’s 41st AA Anniversary.  I started to think about that yesterday really since he mentioned it at our “Grapevine” meeting.  Here is the picture I have today:

That is his “beloved” motor scooter he rides everywhere!  He wears a helmet – not like this picture shows.  Anyway, this is my reminder of his anniversary:

So he got sober the day after St. Patrick’s Day in 1974.  I was just beginning my new life in Florida on that date and beginning my drinking years in earnest.  I drank for another 28 years while he was sober for those 28 years!  He has been sober half his life!  For me, I’ll have to be 102.  That is a pretty “lofty” goal!  Let me see if I can find another picture of him that I like:

Steve has been very supportive of my journey and has been a big part of it.  He helped with the website and sat through numerous “sessions” with BOB and me on Sundays trying to make sense out of a system that makes no sense and is very complicated.  I just got “bits & pieces” of that complicated process.  Then when BOB moved away, we changed the site to Word Press which “again” I have “bits & pieces” of knowledge.  This is a Word Press site and I’m still only scratching the surface of this thing,  He is also on the “GRAPEVINE” committee with me.  He is willing to be our “secretary” when our original “secretary” dropped out.  But there is a positive note:  a “new” member of the Cake Meeting came to our meeting last night.  Her name is Marianne C. and she seems “willing” to be a “part of” the committee.  We’ll need to nurture her.  I hope she comes to our next meeting which will be on April 21st which will be just before:

We’re planning to do a “Guess the # of Grapes” game.  For $1 you guess the number of grapes in a container and the one with the closest guess wins a subscription to The Grapevine paid for by “the committee”.  We’ll see how that goes.  I plan to go to that event, although I have to change my “hair” appointment – note to self.

So here is the final picture of Steve for today:

I just got this in an email:

You are a blessing to others who see your imperfections

and are inspired by how you handle it. Keep that in mind

the next time you’re frustrated with your flaws.

I think I’ll end on that today.  Have a beautiful day!  Celebrate Something!  Thanks for visiting!

If I run up a flight of stairs, I am left breathless. And that is just how I felt after reading this blog. Hardly know what to say (how good is THAT?), except thank you for the honor of being today’s WYLIE “topic”.

NEVER shall forget my first AA meeting in 1974 Naples. “IT was a dark and stormy night…” No, I won’t bore you to snore. Let’s say that I knew–as much as a 1st-day newbie could know anything!– that I would never drink again–it was NOT a pleasant thought. Enough of that.

These past 10 years I’ve gotten pretty involved in AA work, so there is little time to “do much else, like mow weeds”! But there is also something about being surrounded–like in an aura–of peace, happiness and serenity which makes later life more comfortable.

Again, Mary, thank you…YOU are the worker, the inspiration for so many! Stay healthy–grin!

That three-liner near the end seems to written for someone like me.
    …and so, Bye for now…
