Good Morning Everyone,
Woke up really excited today. Don’t really know why, but I think it may be because I heard from people on Marco that they sold 2 tables for the Gratitude Dinner. That always gets me going. I originally thought that they had 4 tables sold because I heard from Peggy first and then Sara Jane. But turns out it’s the same “group” of people. Peggy is hosting our speaker Snow P. (Snowpea to her friends! So funny – that should get a laugh or two when announcing the tickets for sale. At least I think it’s funny)! Also, I’ve decided to take the bus to Atlanta. Peggy is “in charge” and she thinks it’s gonna cost about $150 round trip and she is figuring that we can “catch” the bus at the Cracker Barrel on 951. That would be good. Leaving at midnight or so on Wednesday night but don’t start quoting this (Steve) as it isn’t “carved in stone” yet. But it gives me a bit of an idea and I like the price. So now I get why the Cracker Barrel has such a full parking lot all of the time. People do this I guess and leave their cars there. I’d really like to hitch a ride with someone so I can leave Rose in the garage – hint, hint, Steve? But also, Deb and Ron are going so maybe they’ll take the bus and they live right across the street. So, things are coming together. I volunteered to be on her committee for this if she needs me – that’s how I left it with her. Sometimes having a committee is good, sometimes not so good – but this is a way for me to get in with those folks. I think I might start riding Red to Marco for meetings. I really think I could make it on Sundays. Now that the weather is getting nicer, it should be a nice ride. I rode down there one day and had a really nice ride. I should go to the “Whoopee Party” one of these months. Keep meaning to.
So my other exciting thing that is going on is that little Rose is in the “shop”. Yesterday I was waiting to be picked up from work to go get my “loaner” car while Rose waits for the determination by the “extended warranty” people as to what they will cover and what they won’t. So anyway, when Sergio called me from VW he asked me my address (at home) and I figured he was asking me that because of the warranty, so I said – now I’m at work and he should pick me up at my work place. Well apparently he didn’t “hear” that and the young driver went to my house to pick me up, so then he had to drive back to Moorings Park to pick me up so that kept me there until 4:30. Plus the young driver (FGCU student – not a lot of personality) had an annoying habit of taking his foot off the gas and making the car lung forward and slow down and speed up. I’d say something to them about him, but he probably needs the job and I’m just glad that I didn’t have too far to go or I’d be car sick like I used to be when I was a kid sitting in the back seat of our Pontiac station wagon on our way to Chatham, MA for vacation. BUT that’s a story for another day. So anyway, Sergio said it was the water pump and it would be covered by the warranty, but “while they are in there” perhaps it would be a good idea to switch out the timing belt since it is showing a little wear on it. They usually last between 60K and 80K. So little Rose just passed 60K so I think I’ll wait – PLUS it would cost me a mere $600 or so more to pay for that. So anyway, I said that I just paid $700 to fix her a few months ago and I’m not willing to go that route yet. So then Sergio looks back on my records and finds the big bill I paid and he thinks it should have been covered by the warranty and he will ask about it today when the guy comes. So now we’re in a wait and see mode. I really didn’t think that the guy who worked with me before knew too much – he’s a bit of a “talker” that usually means he is trying to convince himself that he knows something when he really doesn’t. Makes me wonder if he really ever called the warranty people in the first place.
So more shall be revealed today and I’ll let you know what happens to my bank account tomorrow. I know it will be something. Ugh! But on the positive note, they gave me a Touareg to drive and it is really dreamy. Here it is in Rose’s spot:
Now look at their promo picture – really dreamy! (Thanks Steve for the picture).
So now I’m out of time. Hope you have a beautiful day today.
