Ms. Days Ease RV Life #128

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors! It is Tuesday, April 14, 2020. I have moved into my new home and I’m sitting at my Aunt Marjorie’s desk typing this blog. My old desk that I’ve had for unknown years – but many could not fit through the door to this room and I have it out under the carport ready to be put on FB Marketplace. I should have sold it in Naples, but Oh Well!

So yesterday, my movers arrived exactly at 8AM with a great big, 18 wheeler – I should have taken a picture of it! It was huge. My move consisted of 147 items. Which I thought was a huge amount, but the other stuff they had in their truck to deliver to Las Vegas had 508 items – it was going into a 10K square house with 4 floors and an elevator. At least they had an elevator! WOW! And I though I had a lot of stuff! Anyway, I love this new place. My next project, aside from opening up my boxes and putting stuff away, is to get the tire on Daisy fixed. It must have a hole in it because when Bill pumped it up yesterday, it was “flat”. This was the tire that lost air after I had it in to the Ford place in Naples. I should have had them replace it then, but I didn’t. Anyway, I’ll go by the place today and set up a time for them to work on it. I need to get more TRASH BAGS for all of the wrapping paper I’m tossing! Two huge bags so far and many more boxes to unpack.

My drivers were Jason and Rex. Only 2 guys but they were great. A couple of broken things during shipping – a foot from the table by my bed and a leg from the little square table I used in the old place to hold the Sailor Lamp. I have that table by the front door right now. Not sure where it will end up. I put the liquor cabinet behind the loveseat, but I don’t think it will remain there – it’s kind of hidden and doesn’t have much use there. All in good time. Too many boxes to get rid of before things really get set up permanently. But beside the desk, everything fit just fine in the house. I’m really happy! I took a few pictures of the progress:

Benson Dining Room

I decided to make the table just a square.  The middle piece of the table is in the den to use to hold my printer and other misc things – but also use as a work table when I get into some projects.  I now need a file cabinet drawer since my other desk doesn’t fit.  I’d like to get some interesting thing rather than a 2 drawer file cabinet – which I gave to St. Matt’s before I left Naples, but I don’t like the look of that so I’ll check around for something unique for this place.  No rush!

So my TP made it out to Arizona.  Now I’m set for a while.  Hilarious as my cousin Dick said!  Speaking of Dick, he sent me my first card about my move – he is so sweet:

I put this on the fridge!  First thing on it!  He also sent me a couple of items he found in the paper.  The first was a listing for my old place in the Vineyards with a price of $315K on it.  I sold that 2 places ago and 20 years ago – can’t remember how much I bought it for or what I sold it for.  Anyway, he also saw an ad for a place to rent at Shadowood Villas for $1800 – unfurnished – a month.  I guess that is what the “partnership” is doing with the property.  I wonder if I could have done that?  Anyway – no regrets – now I’m free and clear in my own place in Benson – what a feeling not to have a mortgage!

So this is how the mirrored wardrobe fits in the master bath:

I was just discussing with Bette and Suzan about the size of my house in comparison to my place in Naples.  I have a smaller den and I only have one master bedroom – no guest room.  But the kitchen is tremendous and the master bedroom and bath are huge too.  And since it’s only me and Metaxa in here, we’re happier with this layout!  Speaking of Metaxa – she is getting acclimated pretty well.  Has found her food and water and the kitty litter box – it’s a beautiful thing!  This morning she found the sunshine:

The carpet in the master bedroom and den is a “shag” which is the same coloring as Metaxa!  Someday I may change it out to a nicer carpet, but for now it’s great and brand new so I have lot’s of time to work with it.  Plus, it won’t show stains!  The place has a linoleum tile that is a brownish design – won’t show dust and dirt!  Perfect for my type of housecleaning!

I need to take a shower now and get going for the day.  I’ll leave you with another couple of pictures of the chaos here:

With the couches in place:

This is one of the things I found in one of my boxes!  So funny!  The note on the tape said:  “Don’t know where this came from.”  And it was wrapped in 4 paper towels!

Thanks for visiting!  Life is good!  Come back again!

Decisions, decisions. I hate making them. Looks like you’re having fun. I am really enjoying my days off. Although I do miss having someplace to go each morning. I’m getting so much done around the house which I love. I just may decide to make this retirement permanent. Do you plan to have your visitors sleep in Daisy?
