Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors! Last night we had our last dinner together with Bill, Cathy, Rich and me. It was great big burgers (hand ground beef by Cathy) and a wonderful salad with Romaine, fennel & chick peas and homemade Peppermint Ice Cream (made by Rich). It was great! Bill and Cathy are leaving for Yellowstone on Thursday, May 14th. We discussed a bunch of things, but Cathy mentioned that she got Curiositystream.com for her mom for Mother’s Day. It’s an app that has millions of documentaries. So I was curious and I bought it today. It’s on sale for $12 a year and they are running this special because we are “staying home” and they want to entertain us. So now that I got the BLU Tooth to work, I can “toss” the documentaries to my TV. Haven’t tried it yet, but I bet I can figure it out. May try it today. It took some doing, but I got it to work. Watched the documentary – Man’s First Friend – it’s the history of dogs and how they became domesticated from wolves. It was great!
It’s 58 degrees this morning – love that temperature! Windows are open to bring the fresh air in. Yesterday I learned that on a cloudy day, the temperature stays down a bit and it was only in the 80’s all day. That was great because this happened:
This cabinet was amazing. Everything just “popped” into place. No tools necessary except for the 4 screws to put the handles on. Ingenious! But Bill had to help me – I was a bit overwhelmed by it. I probably would have put the pieces in backward or something! Anyway this is how it ended up:
Bill screwed it into the wall so it wouldn’t blow away – the winds get really strong out here and he learned from his mistakes so I’ve got it attached to the wall and it should work well. The door did blow open yesterday so I need to put a tiny lock (not much room for anything to hold the doors together) to hold them shut. I’ve had a tiny Master Lock for years that I’ve never used so now it has a job! Funny how things work out.
I’m going to drive to Mt. Lemmon today in OTIS2. I’ll take pictures and then return to this later. Come back!
The drive to Mt. Lemmon was great. It was up a very curvey road and it was a little nerve wracking. But I loved the fact that I was climbing up to 8,000 feet. Once up there the temperature was:
It got down to 55 degrees up there! GLORIOUS! I pulled into a picnic area and a couple from Clearwater spoke to me. They had moved to Tucson about a year ago and had a 40′ Diesel Pusher. They were dying to go out camping too and just took the day trip to get out of the heat like I was. They were great. So I sat down at a picnic table to admire the view. This picture doesn’t do it justice but it was really pretty:
It looked over a cliff down to a valley. There were many families around today and then I realized that it was the weekend! I was amazed at how many bikers there were going up and down the mountain. Boy oh boy – did they need to be in shape. God bless them! So as I sat there eating my lunch I began to feel some raindrops. So I decided to go and Bill suggested I go to Saguaro National Park on the way back. As I was driving down the mountain on those very winding roads (curvey not winded) and it began to SLEET! WOW! That was interesting! So then I got down to Saguaro National Park:
When I went with Bill and Cathy when I first got out here and I didn’t have my JEEP, we went to the West Side of the Park. Today, I drove along the loop road on the East Side of the park. I got a couple of pictures of cactus flowers:
Next thing I did was step on a little urchin like cactus that poked through the side of my sneaker. Lesson learned – need harder sided shoes if I’m going into the desert searching for flowers. So then I couldn’t get out again to get close to the flowers so I took this picture of a Saguaro that had some flowers on it. I think they may be about a week or 2 away from fully blossoming:
And another:
I may drive out there again in a couple of weeks – Bill & Cathy will be at Yellowstone and I’ll be looking for some adventures. I’ll just remember not to go on a weekend!
So when I got down from the mountain, this was what the temperature was:
Nothing like varying temperatures within 100 miles of one another. Mt. Lemmon may be my “go to” this summer! We’ll see.
So the adventure begins and continues! Thanks for visiting! Come back and in the meantime: Be Calm, Be True, Be Quiet!

You should lock that new cabinet anyway!. Looks good. Who is Rich? You haven’t mentioned him before. Will you be visiting Bill & Cathy at Yellowstone this summer? Have any plans yet? Our air went out last night. I think we’ll have to bite the bullet and get a new one after 18 years! This one has lived 2 lives. We’re lucky.
