Ms. Days Ease RV Life #160 7/5/20

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors!  Happy Fourth of July Weekend!  This is probably the oddest 4th Of July ever!  Lot’s of that going around.  I plan to go to the “entertainment” at The Barn here.  There is supposed to be music.  I may or may not go.  We’ll see how I feel.

I’m trying to get a project done at my house.  I did this the other day when I was having the tire fixed on Daisy:

Extra Chair Removed

I always felt that the 2nd chair at my table was “over kill” but I know why they put it in the MH so that they could have 4 sets of seat belts so that 4 people could ride buckled in.  Since I’ll never have that many people in my coach needing a seat belt, I decided to have it removed and the guys at Del’s Tire could do it.  They disconnected the seat and I took it out of Daisy and put it here:

I dragged it up the driveway under the car port.  It was REALLY Heavy and difficult – but I got it there.  Now it’s been sitting there for 2 weeks with the tarp over it and a set of wheels that you put under plants and it says it can hold 500 pounds.  Now all that needs to be done is to attach the wheels to the bottom of the chair.  Seems simple enough to me.  Now I wait.  Dennis is supposed to help me but he hasn’t been by to do anything yet.  There is no rush I suppose – I just want it done before the rains come!  Speaking of rain….. it did rain the other day – actually 2 days in a row.  Thunder and everything – thought I was in Florida!  And the temperature dropped down into the low 70’s.  It was GLORIOUS!  So cool listening to the rain on my screened in porch!  Can’t wait for the “monsoons” to come.  Should be fun to watch out there!

I went to The Desert Museum on Friday.  It was about an hour’s ride from home.  I’m so glad I got there finally.  But it was a little too hot to see the whole thing so I think I’ll go back when it cools off.  The road to the Museum was very interesting and I’m glad I was in OTIS2 and not Daisy but Daisy could make it which I may do next time I go.  It would just be a day trip, although I did see a campground up there and that may be fun to go to for a couple of nights when the weather cools off.  I decided to join the Desert Museum.  It only cost $65 and I can go as often as I wish.  I have to remember to make a “reservation” as I was told when I got to the ticket counter.  I can see that the place is probably very popular in the nice weather – there is parking galore there.   So I took some pictures of my adventures.

This one is of the gnarly cactus along the road:

Next I took a picture of a hill that could be accessed from a trail:

Patiently Waiting!

So I got to the entrance to the Museum.  It was an outside museum.  There were some inside spaces like this:

The gift shop was super.  I bought a “walking stick” – I figured that I should buy something since I had a “free pass” – thanks Bill and Cathy!  And a PATCH:  Another one to add to my collection in Daisy.

This reminded me of the Botanical Gardens in Naples.  I always had a membership to that and their gift shop was super also.  Very nice displays and wonderful items.  Everything was on sale so now that I’m a member I may go back and take advantage of that – lots of Indian Pottery!  Just beautiful!

I have another project for Daisy today and I should get to it before it gets too hot.  I’ll be back later to finish this.  But not before I put this picture in of the Javalinas at the entrance to the Desert Museum:

The first stop on the map was the Hummingbird Pavilion.  Here is a video of it.  The hummingbirds were hard to see, but look for them in the yellow flowers and you can see them pretty well.  It was so cool walking through there with them buzzing around:

Here is a map of the “museum” – more like a park:

I just realized that I can’t edit the picture – at least I couldn’t figure out how to do that. It would be easier to read if it was landscape rather than portrait. I’ll have to work on that.

There was a room that had some fish tanks and this one was one of them:

Eels

They reminded me of the seed pods from mangroves in Florida.  They were all different colors and designs and really pretty cute.   This is another picture of the trail that is the path through the desert:

Next there was a beautiful little cactus flower:

There was also an area with other live animals.  I saw a fox resting in a hammock and then I saw this Otter swimming around:

Otter for Kristin

I always think of Kristin when I see an Otter anywhere.  I remember once when I worked at the Community School in Naples, there was a family of Otters that used to run across campus & jump into a retention pond.  Now that was an old memory!

So here is the patch on the fridge in Daisy:

New Patch for Collection

I just thought that I need to go out to Saguaro National Park – just up the road from the Desert Museum – and pick up a patch for that and also get my “Passport” stamped for another National Park.  That’s an adventure for another day in a week or so.  I’ll let you know.

I decided to to to Saguaro National Park today, Sunday, July 5.  Here is a video I shot there:

This is the entrance to the Park:

There are also some rocks to climb on:  Javalina Rocks – next time I’ll get out and try my hand (feet and legs) at climbing up:

Here is a picture of a very unique and OLD cactus:

My other project for Daisy was to insulate her windows.  That’s done!  Mariah had insulation for all of her windows.  I still have some left so I can add one for the back window and for the kitchen window.  A project for another day:

  Insulated windows in Daisy

So that is all for today.  I hope you have enjoyed the Holiday Weekend – even though we all stayed in and there were no fireworks.  Come back again and visit:  Remember:  Be Calm, Be True, Be Quiet!
