Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors. Happy 3 Month Anniversary to Metaxa and me! We moved in on the 13th of April. 3rd Year of Retirement! WOW – what a journey! DAY 103 of this PANDEMIC for me!
I love my new home. It is just perfect for me and Metaxa! Right now it’s pretty HOT so we’re waiting for the cooler weather and monsoon season to end. We’ve had a couple of good rain storms but not many so I’m not sure what to expect. All I know is that I need to get up very early in order to get anything done outside – once it hits the 90’s it’s just too hot to do anything.
So I read on line about a Guest Ranch nearby in Dragoon, AZ – 25 miles from Benson toward El Paso.
It looked very interesting. I think I saw where they were hiring for the “season” – housekeepers, servers, bartenders etc. I think I discovered it on “Cool Works”. That is a website that lists jobs for temporary workers. Anyway, the place looked really interesting and it being so close to Benson, I decided to go on an adventure today to check it out.
SO glad I did.
OTIS2 patiently waiting in the shade. The Welcome Center wasn’t open so I took a little walk around to take some pictures. I remember driving through Texas Canyon on my way back to Benson from New Mexico – 3 times now and I was intrigued by the rock formations. I thought this would be a good place to visit to see some of that. Here is what I found:
It advertises that it is a “wedding” venue. This is what I found for that:
I guess you could have the ceremony under the vine arch. Here is another picture of the area:
I could see some potential. There are some guest rooms there – I didn’t go over to that part of the property. Here is another picture of the place:
There are some RV Sites – no one was there at this time. It looks pretty “run down”. On the 25th & 26th of July, they are having the “11th Annual Garlic Fest”. I was thinking of attending it, but really I don’t like garlic all that much and after driving out there today, I can’t imagine that it will be much better in 2 weeks. Here is another picture I took of the “Saloon”:
This is why they call it The ROCK:
The bar is built around a big rock. That is interesting! Anyway, I’m glad I drove out there first before I reserved a site for Daisy. I don’t think we’ll be going there anytime soon, but you never know. Maybe it gets better with weather that is better for camping. Right now it looks pretty dismal. I may drive out there later in the year to check it out again when it is up and running. I think the pandemic has taken a toll on the place. Time will tell!
So I guess that is all for today. I’m waiting for the sun to go down so I can go out in the dark and look for the meteor that is flying through the night skies. I’ll let you know if I see it. In the meantime, Be Calm, Be True, Be Quiet! Didn’t see the meteor but it will be out all month so I’ll keep trying.
