Ms. Days Ease RV Life #168 8/3/20

Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors!  Day 124 for me!  This is how it is right now:

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that Very Hot icon before!  So funny and believe me it is VERY HOT.  I just got back from taking the trash down and I’m sweltering!  I was delayed on my walk today because this was happening:

Aaron from A & L Electric arrived exactly at 8AM!  Very impressive!  First thing that had to be done was to dig up the conduit that was under the driveway:

Digging the trench:

Here is the view from the house:

This was a really interesting step.  He had to drive a hole in the side of the breaker box.  He had to cut it twice because the bigger hole tool would not fit in through the smaller hole that was drilled first.  The tool is a cranking mechanism that cuts through the metal.  It’s important to do it by hand so that a drill doesn’t break through and damage any of the multiple wires in the breaker box!  Very interesting!

As he was putting this all together, he called the inspector.  Now only having tried to get things inspected in Florida, I was IMPRESSED that an inspector would come out TODAY and in less than 1/2 an hour!  NICE!

So now Daisy is all set and I have her AC on cooling her down!  This is the final step:

Originally, Daisy was about 1 foot from being able to be plugged in so I was going to drive her up a couple of feet to get her to plug in.  Then it occurred to me that I had an extension cord so rather than driver her up and then have to re-level her, I decided to use the extension cord I have.  PLUS, it fits in the 30 Amp box and the faceplate will close.  The other cord has a finger hole in it that doesn’t let the faceplate close.  This is what I mean:

The little circular hole in the plug helps you grip it to pull it out of the socket and that was preventing the faceplate from closing.  Aaron said it wouldn’t matter that it was open in the rain, but I didn’t like it so the extension cord was perfect.  Now it’s closed and all is well.

So I thought this was funny too:  Look where the box was made:

So now I’m ready to cool down the refrigerator for my trip.  And speaking of my trip!

I noticed the other day that the State of New Mexico is telling people who come into the State from another State that they must self isolate for 14 days.  I didn’t like the sound of that so I called Susan to see what she thought.  I guess it really wouldn’t matter so much for us because we would be in our own RVs, but still I figured that it would be best if we called the campground in Santa Fe and see what they thought.  She said she would do it today, but she stewed about it over the weekend and we came up with a better plan.  We decided to stay in Colorado and bypass New Mexico.  So now we are going to go to Alamosa, CO to a KOA there.  I am going to leave on Friday and drive to Thousand Trails in Cottonwood.  Then on to Old West RV Park in Montecello, UT for Saturday and then over to Alamosa from Sunday to Thursday.  So now my trip is a little longer than I had been planning, but that’s OK – no worries about being away because Metaxa will be with me.    My neighbor Barb is still able to keep an eye on my plants – I’ll put them under the carport again.  She did a great job the last time.  So my trip is similar (almost exactly) like my other trip to Denver, but I don’t mind that since it’s already in my GPS so I won’t have trouble getting where I need to go.  SO that is the plan to this point.  I also found a Harvest Host Alpaca Farm for the trip home from Alamosa so I’ll break up the trip back a little – then I’ll be back on Sunday the 16th.  It should be a lot of fun.  I’ll be going to Safeway on WEDS so I get my “old fart” 10% discount for the food.  So my biggest expense will be the KOA and gas.  Not bad.  Can’t wait!

SO this happened today:

I can’t live without my Apple Watch.  I went on YouTube to try to figure out how to fix it.  Fortunately, the face isn’t cracked or broken, it just came loose from the watch.  It works still, but is just loose.  Not sure how I need to fix it.  The YouTube videos were very complicated.  So I may be without it until I get back from my next trip.  I think I have another watch I can wear, but I’ll really miss my Apple Watch – it’s so cool.  Time will tell – no pun intended.  I’ll keep trying to work on it.

Look at this beautiful sunset!  Stolen from FB:

So thanks for visiting today – gonna go have lunch in Daisy with the AC on.  I may turn on my refrigerator now that I have the electric to Daisy.  It will be interesting to see if my electric bill increases.  Cathy said I owned them $15 so I’ll see if I can tell, although I’ve only had 2 bills so far so it will be hard to tell.  Have a great day!
