Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors. Day 127 for me today. It’s Thursday, August 6, 2020. All is well – just one more day and I’m ON THE ROAD AGAIN!
I’m going to Cottonwood, UTAH and Colorado. Very excited about doing that. A little nervous as always, but I’m sure all will be set. I’ll hook OTIS2 up to Daisy outside of my house today at some point and then take off in the morning. YAY!
So this is the picture of the day:
She loves sleeping on the soft National Parks blanket. SO CUTE!
AND – drum roll please – this happened yesterday:
Josh Mattia did a WONDERFUL job. The chair is SO Comfy! He welded the wheels on to a cross bar and now I have a desk chair. Only took 2 months! But anyway, it can be removed when the time comes to sell Daisy but in the meantime I have a great chair. It’s really heavy and doesn’t roll very easily, but it does swivel well and adjusts well too. He figured out how big to make the metal cross so it wouldn’t tip over. The chair is really heavy – I’d say a good 40 pounds. But I’m SO HAPPY WITH IT! Great job!
Now all of my projects to date are complete. Just in time to HIT THE ROAD!
Here is a picture of my “prep” for the trip. This counter has come in VERY HANDY!
I spoke with Susan this morning and this is how she “preps”:
I can’t believe how alike we are! So Funny!
I discovered on a Podcast by the Wendlings about a new (to me) website called OvernightRVParking.com. It is an app also that brings up locations to overnight park where you are (Loves, Walmarts, Etc). It costs $30 but is really worth it because if you use it once, you’ve covered the cost of 1 night in the campground. It is really cool, plus since I mentioned the Podcast, I got an extra 2 months on my subscription and when I recommend Susan, I’ll get another 2 months. It’s very impressive! So now I have an arsenal of apps for “free” camping – Harvest Hosts, Boondockers Welcome & now OvernightRVParking.com. So I should be able to travel pretty cheaply when we go on longer trips. Now my next hurdle is to get the nerve to go out into BLM and National Forest Lands for FREE CAMPING. In those places you can stay for 2 weeks at a time. That is my next discovery. Love this life.
Well, I think I’ll move Daisy and OTIS2 now and set her up for the night so I can get started in the morning. I’ll be back!
STEP ONE DONE:
I’m going to wait until late this afternoon to hook up OTIS2 because you never know when I might need him. Once he’s attached, I don’t want to take him off. So now we wait. Lunch will be served in Daisy later today. Love my choices these days!
So this is why I love this place where I live. My smoke detector beeped last night in the middle of the night. I got up and pushed the button to reset it. That was fine. Then this morning, it beeped again – same thing – I reset it so it was quiet. As I was walking things out to Daisy, my neighbor Barb was driving by and asked me about my departure. She’ll look in on my plants which I’ll put under the carport and put packages into the house – I don’t think I expect anything – but anyway I mentioned the smoke alarm to her and she said it sounded like it needed a battery. I have one for it, but I can’t reach the thing on the ceiling. So I called my salesman Rick and asked him about getting someone to come by to help me change that battery. Not I guess all of the smoke alarms need batteries, but I’m only concerned about the kitchen one right now – the others I’ll do when I get home from CO. Anyway, not 10 minutes later a guy named Jerry stopped by with a ladder and fixed my battery! WOW! Love this place! I know I could have had my brother Bill do it but he isn’t home right now and won’t be for a couple of months. So I just LOVE THIS PLACE!
SO this morning when I went out to unplug Daisy to move her out to the street this was on my electric cord:
I Googled it and I think it is a Leaf Footed Beetle or Bug – anyway, Google had a listing of 640 bugs in Arizona with pictures of them all. Interesting!
So I went out to Daisy to have my lunch today – I’m just about finished taking things into her – and the temperature was:
Too cold actually but it was confirmed by this:
This is how the temperature monitor works on my phone so I know what the temp is when Metaxa is left in Daisy. I’ll need to monitor it when I get to CO and Susan and I are “out and about”. I really like this thing – I think it will save a lot of anxiety over that for me. Happy to see that it is working so well.
So now STEP 2 has happened:
We’re all hooked up and ready for early departure. Looks like I got it done right before the rains are coming. So that is good timing! See you all in a couple of days! Thanks for visiting!
