Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors! Still counting the COVID days – #170 today. Day 30 of my 50in50in50. I just made a list of my remaining states – VT, CT, DE,WV, NC, SC, FL, AL,MS,LA,NM,UT,CO,KS,NV,WY,ND,SD,MI, &MN. FL and MI I can get most any day, but the others I’ll need to get at the 319. Anyway, it might get a little dicey from now on.
Speaking of the 319. Did I mention that I went to “training” the other day for working (doing service) in that meeting? It took about 3 hours. So because of that I didn’t go to The Naples Group and Joe zoomed in for it and I missed him. He offered to speak this month, but right now I have Michele coming next week, but if that changes I’ll ask him again. You never know how life happens and things could change. I just hope he doesn’t get a resentment about being passed over. Mary S did a fabulous job last night and there was only 20 minutes left of the meeting to share and she started at about 8 minutes past 7. It’s really different on ZOOM than being “at the F2F meeting”. No reaction from the audience. Strange!
SO today I was sitting on my porch enjoying the weather when I heard voices in the lot next to me. Rick was doing his “thing”. So I left my house to try out my new shoes:
New NIKE walking shoes and hiking shoes – learning to buy black for EVERYTHING out here! Anyway, I wanted to try some new shoes, as the only hiking shoes I have are the ones Suzan “gifted” me. I have a pair of waterproof hiking boots, but they get cumbersome on a trail at times – only good in the winter or in the rain. I’m going to keep these on all day today to see if my feet can stand them for a while – at least long enough for a hike. I wanted some shoes that have good support. More will be revealed.
So anyway, as I was saying the “voices” next door: Here is a picture of their vehicle:
Nice new Jeep Truck from South Dakota! (Hope they want to get out of the cold winters up there). I got South Dakota on my 50in50in50 today – day 30! But I digress. So as I’m returning home I caught this:
There is Rick dropping them off. Anyway, I’m impressed by their JEEP. Time will tell – more will be revealed.
I was checking on a picture that I was waiting to arrive by email and found this picture in my OUT box:
This was the second spot I stayed in at Verde Valley at TT (Thousand Trails) in Cottonwood. In a few weeks, I’ll be arriving in Cottonwood for the 3rd time. It’s a great trip. Just long enough to get feeling like I’m camping but not too long to get tired. I’m hoping the weather will be cooler up there by that time. We’ll see – I’ll check the forecast 10 days out.
I also found this picture:
This is how I feel most days! It’s the picture at NAC that Rick made tee shirts of. Here is mine – I thought I lost it in the move:
Our home group Daily Reflections ZOOM Group. I love that meeting! It meets by ZOOM on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday. I try to make it every time it meets. We try to remember to wear this shirt on Fridays. Suzan, Jeff and I wore them this morning!
So I’m trying to keep busy until I go to a new meeting this afternoon at 5:30 EST. It is called the 4th Dimension on ZOOM and Jackie & Laura started it. Britten is chairing it this afternoon and she mentioned it this morning, so Jeff and I are going to try to make it today. I have so many meetings on ZOOM that I go to now, that I’m saving them on a spreadsheet. Mainly I go to The Cookie Meeting, Daily Reflections and 319. This 4th Dimension meeting only meets on Friday so I think I’ll try to make that one each week – it’s at a good time for me (2:30 PM).
I went to 319 this morning for an hour or so and greeted. I also attended a “Break Out” meeting to talk to a new comer, Rachel, who admitted she was still drinking. She is in Falmouth, MA on Cape Cod. So this is how it works. There was another woman named Rachel who joined us in the BO Room and she was from MA also. She told Rachel about a number of meetings she attends on The Cape so now the “new” Rachel has some more tools for her tool box! Love how that works!
So here’s another little story about ME now. Yesterday, I needed to go to the grocery store – almost out of ORANGE BUBLY! OMG! So I hop in the JEEP and it won’t start!!! WHAAAAAAT?????? Well it did sit for about 6 days without going out – can you believe that? Would never happen in Naples – I’m sure saving money on gas here – except when I go on a camping trip. So I called “COACHNET” to get some “roadside” assistance. They indicated that my service was only roadside for the RV (remember my flat tire in the middle of east bajesus right before getting into UTAH?). Anyway, it worked for Daisy! So I thought, well, it might be good to upgrade so I can get the JEEP worked on if needed while “on the road”. So the person I spoke with said, “We can’t upgrade your service” – I mean REALLY????????? All it takes is money!!! They said I had to contact my “dealer” where I bought the service. So that meant Gerzeny’s in Ft. Myers – oh no! I called them and of course the person who could help me wasn’t available so I left a message – which reminds me I didn’t get a call back from them! Anyway, this wasn’t helping me “at the moment” so I started thinking that I may have bought roadside assistance when I bought OTIS2. I gave up my 40 year membership with AAA because it saved me $100 a year for that. I called the JEEP place in Naples and spoke with the NICEST GUY! He even gave me his cell number in case I had trouble. (Note to self – call him and thank him)! Anyway, yes indeed I have roadside service for about 5 years on OTIS2. YAY! I did something right! So after a couple of calls, I got connected to a roadside service company out here. They are out of Sierra Vista, but the guy BOB was in Patagonia when he got the call. So about an hour and 1/2 later this big, ole flatbed truck pulls up to my driveway. I’m thinking – won’t this be fun if I need to be towed! Anyway, the guys walks up to the JEEP and puts this little “machine” on the engine, connects it, turns it on and I crank the engine and it starts right up. He did say it indicated that the battery was a little “low” – it’s about 2 years old and they say that is about the life of a battery out here – (Note to self – check battery in Daisy – I know the coach batteries are new, but not sure about the battery in the motor in Daisy). I thought I could probably jump OTIS2 from Daisy, but I really didn’t want to go through the hassle. So I’m glad I got BOB to stop by (it was covered – no charge – I guess I could have given him a tip – but didn’t think about it at the time, especially since he had to drive so far to get to me). But I LEARNED something. There is a little mechanism that can be used to “jump” a car without connecting to a running engine with jumper cables (I do have jumper cables BTW – first thing Bill told me to buy). And now I have this:
$60 at O’Reillys. So this little gem is going to live in OTIS2 so I can jump him if I’m stuck somewhere and he won’t start. It charges up by electric outlet and I think it probably has power enough to charge other things like phones, iPads etc – anything with a USB connection and it has a 12 Volt connection also. So that is the story on that. I have roadside assistance for Daisy (Coachnet) and Roadside Assistance for OTIS2. That Roadside Assistance for OTIS2 is a phone number – can’t remember the name of the company. Let me go call the number. They just answer “Roadside Assistance”. So if there is a problem in the future I’ll just call the JEEP Dealer in Naples and get the number again. So after calling “Roadside Assistance”, they gave me a website: www.crosscountryperks.com to try. I also have a USB thumb drive from JEEP with information on it. I may try that if I don’t get any satisfaction from the website.
So Susan is in Nebraska on her own with Mariah and Ginger (or Cookie – I can never remember which one is still with her). Anyway here is evidence of her SOLOING!
I really miss big trees. I need to find some close by. I spoke with a woman yesterday at the 319 that said she was in the White Mountains. I told her I should come over and get out of the heat. Maybe soon. Wondering if I can remember her name and info.
So I’m getting ready to be “Rocketed into the 4th Dimension” so I’m going to sign off for now. Thank you so much for visiting. I’m so happy that Bill S came on the other day – I thought he forgot about me! Boo Hoo!!!!
Anyway, Be Calm, Be True, Be Quiet. If I go for a 10 minute walk, I’ll “close my ring”. Gonna do that before the meeting. Bye-Bye!
