Today is Wednesday, November 13, 2019. I am up at 6 AM but it is really 5AM. We are in a different time zone. So time is interesting. I’m surprised that my watch hasn’t changed the time and either have my other things, iPhone, iPad & this computer. I have the radio on this morning for the first time. So I’m getting a little more settled. The kitties are hunkering down to keep warm. My brother taught me how to use the furnace so this morning it is on and is working well. It comes on, gets to temp and turns off. I also have a wonderful electric heater that is like an old time radiator and it is so QUIET! So that is supplementary.
It is 31 degrees outside and 63 in here. Quite a change from the 79 degrees we are used to at home. So the kitties are a little cold. Listening to 106.3 Seabreeze in Santa Rosa Beach. It’s like 101.1 from home, so this is very pleasant this morning. Each day gets a little more comfortable.

We went to 3 stores yesterday looking for this. The thing is, it’s important to get one that “radiates” the heat and doesn’t have a fan. Bill and Cathy told me that! So we finally found this beauty at ACE hardware. It was the only one they had. So it was meant to be. The three little black vents under the refrigerator is where the heat from the furnace comes out. I set the thermostat for a certain temp (mine is old fashioned so we’ll change it out in Arizona to a digital one) but is seems to be working well today. Now I need to ask Bill if it is OK to keep the furnace on when driving. See so many questions and so much to learn! We’re leaving today at 9 to drive to Fountainbleu State Park in Mandeville, LA. Bill and Cathy figured out how to program my iPad, so even though I’m following them, I’ll have the route to follow in my rig. I’ll also have a walkie talkie so we can communicate between cars.
So I also have 2 new “house” batteries. Batteries Plus had them and we picked them up with a 10% discount because we found them on line. So now I’m all set with that and it is a BIG relief. Bill installed them! God bless him!
AND we checked the air pressure in the tires and they were all low. So I figured we’d have to stop at a gas station and pump them up while pumping dollars into the machine, but OH NO, Bill has a compressor. Much better than the silly one I bought to pump up my bike tires. I thought mine would work, but it would take 6 days to fill them up with my compressor! So in about 1/2 hour, all of my tires are at the right pressure (65#) – that’s 6 tires worth! What a Life!
I figured out a way to “hide” the bed a little. I used the Indian blanket I bought in New Mexico and I’m using it as a bed spread. Plus it is a warmer place for Wylie to ride during the day. Eventually, I’ll be sleeping over the cab, but I have stuff up there now.

One of the greatest things about being in this small place, everything is within reach. I just checked my bank account and reached for my backpack to get my checkbook to add the credits and debits and I didn’t even need to get up! Now that is FUN! Easy peasy – banking DONE!
Since I’m thinking more about electrical systems and use of electricity and battery power vs generator power vs electric plug in power, I thought about having left a charger in my Jeep plugged in, so I texted Haven this morning to ask her to unplug that when she stops by again. I also asked her to start the Jeep every once in a while. So grateful for her and her friendship! I am so lucky! All my friends are so supportive of this journey. It’s good to know and of course all of those friendships are so important to me – especially while I’m “on the road”!
Cathy baked some banana muffins yesterday! Healthy with almond flour. So breakfast 2 days in a row:
Yesterday:

This microwave/convection oven cooks a little differently from my microwave at home, but is works. So much fun. Love those Jimmy Dean Scramblers!
This is today:

I can never get my muffins to be so “high”. I’ll have to ask her how she does that. These are delicious! I think there is some coconut in them also. One is plenty for me so now I have breakfast for another day! Yippee!
So I just came up with another “hack”. I was feeling a lot of cold air coming in from below the couch by way of the storage compartment below. So I stuffed my “survival blanket” behind the couch. Maybe that will work. It is still 31 degrees out.
So another “issue” this morning. I noticed when I opened the blind that the lighted flamingo was not on. Didn’t think too much about it until I saw this:
Well the sensor of the battery power – trickle charger was red and cycling red, yellow, green. So when I went to take a picture of it for this blog, it is all green again. I never saw that cycling before. But the chair obscures it so it could have been doing that without me knowing it. This is what I am talking about:

This morning the far left light was red and the other 3 lights were cycling red, yellow, red. I think? Anyway it seems to have settled down, must have been resetting or something. Flamingo is still off. Time to go wrap her up and put her away for the trip to Louisiana.
We are going to plan to leave earlier which suits me fine. I want to see how they hook up their Jeep because I’ll be doing that one day.
Cathy showed me a spreadsheet that she keeps for her travels and cost of overnights per day. I started one too.

She has it back for the 15 years they have been doing this so she can check back to where they were at various times during the years. This is such a great idea – thanks Cathy!
I’ll be back a little later. But if not, thanks for visiting!
