Today is Thursday, November 14th. We are at Fountainebleau State Park in Mandeville, LA on Lake Pontchartrain. We pulled out the bikes yesterday and went for a hour bike ride on the Rails to Trail trail. They took old railroad tracks and made them into roads for biking. It is GREAT!

I’ve been learning so much on this trip. Can you believe that the mile markers through the States tell you how long it is to get to the next State? When you think I’ve lived in Florida for all of my adult life (mostly 43 years) I never knew that, but I’m learning that on this trip. Here is a video of my first border crossing:
I took a video of each border crossing. Florida to Alabama, Alabama to Mississippi and Mississippi to Louisiana. Our next border crossing is into the GREAT State of Texas! As Bill in Cathy pointed out: 4 states in 1 day and then 1 state in 4 days! So the next leg will be through Texas.
Its 43 degrees this morning outside and a toasty 65 degrees in here. I put on my furnace for a couple of minutes this morning, but my electric heater is really doing the work of keeping Daisy warm. I took a shower this morning in the bath house. First time I’ve been in a place with heat. It was interesting. There was no bench inside the shower stall so my stuff was out on a “common” bench. The shower was automatic. Water was nice and warm but shot out the stall onto the floor even with the shower curtain down. It was on long enough for me to wash my hair and body so that was good and believe me, it is so nice feeling clean. My final “thing” to do in the rig is to use the hot water and shower. Still hesitant, but I’m sure it will be fine once I get to it. The kitty litter lives in there.

Wylie got adventurous this morning. Mostly this is what happens in here:

So this morning I COOKED! I made my own “scramble” with Publix sausages, 2 real eggs and cheddar cheese! Turned out GREAT!

And this is the final product! Very good!

Now to determine if I don’t get food poisoning……….time will tell! I’ll let you know!
It’s raining here in Mandeville, LA. We went for a little tour of the area and it is a lovely town with beautiful, big mansions facing Lake Pontchartrain. Huge trees with Spanish moss hanging down. This campground runs along Lake Pntchartrain and we went out to the beach and pier. It was DESERTED! We had the whole place to ourselves. You can see that in the summers, many people use the park, based on the parking areas. Here are a couple of pictures:

Here are brother Bill and me………

The grounds are quite elaborate. According to the campground information. “Fontainebleau State Park was originally developed in the 1930s. The 2800 acres on which the park is situated were originally part of Bernard de Marigny’s plantation and sugar mill, the remnants of which can still be seen on the park grounds. The park features excellent day-use facilities including a beach area on Lake Pontchartrain, picnic sites, a nature trail and covered pavilions. Overnight camping and group camp facilities are also available.”
We are leaving shortly to get a little Cajun Gumbo for dinner. More will be revealed. Thanks for visiting.
