Ms. Days Ease RV Life #7

Today is Labor Day. It’s a holiday for most “working stiffs”. Thank you God for allowing me to retire and not worry about working any longer! So it’s just another MONDAY to me. I’m picking up Jeff for the 8 AM meeting as we are expecting some bad conditions today from Hurricane Dorian. It is still stalled over the Bahamas, but according to the news, it has started the northern turn. SO SWFL is totally out of the cone and has been all week. So we’ll just get some skirted bad weather. Last night we had a huge storm blow in around 6 PM. It lasted about 45 minutes. So that is to be expected. I really will be glad to be done with this hurricane thing. Cathy said there are no big weather issues in Arizona. Now I need to ask her if there is a State income tax.

Woke up thinking about my trip to Arizona in:

Wylie’s first visit to Daisy

Daisy, me & the cats are going to have SO MUCH FUN! Yesterday when Metaxa came in, I opened up the couch so she couldn’t escape into the storage area. Once in there, however, I can open the doors under the couch and she can get back into the rig without getting “lost in the underbelly”.

Daisy in the Drive

I was thinking. I originally thought I would move Daisy to storage after the storm passes, but I might keep her here until I’m told I must move her. I still need to learn about her and I’m going to need to have her at home to do that. I have started using my guest room as the staging area for my camping trips. I have SO MUCH STUFF! It’s pretty pathetic. So happy I’m taking that Uncluttered Course. At least it is making me realize I have TOO MUCH STUFF. So I want to be very careful what I put in Daisy. Especially, if I store her down the street, I don’t want anything to be in her that someone would want. I need to get another wheel cover. I wonder if AMAZON has those?

I’m going to go eat a little breakfast. Be back later! I may drive Daisy to Collier-Seminole State Park today to “play” like I’m camping. I may use the dump station there to do my first dump. Plus I’m going to take my computer there and blog from the State Park. I could wait until tomorrow to do it, but the storm is coming closer and weather may be worse tomorrow and it is beautiful today.

I’m glad I kept Daisy in the driveway today. The rain is coming and going. Right now I’ve just had lunch (a salad from Publix) and I’m waiting to return to the house to feed Wylie and Metaxa. I’ve got the AC running in here and it is wonderful. I fixed up the bed above the cab. I took the gel cover and added the little air mattress I got from Suzan from their cabin in New Mexico. I have a fitted sheet on it tightened with safety pins. I have a “my pillow” up there and I think it’s going to work out well. I have the ladder up and I may leave that up so I don’t need to keep bringing it down. So let me take a picture of the bed and ladder etc.

Upper Bed

I went up there to lie in it and it was very comfortable, even with the rig being on the “down angle”. It was warm up there though because the AC wouldn’t blow up there, although I could move the air flow a little more to the ceiling. Right now I have it blowing down on me at my computer. I have to say, I love this blogging in here in the afternoon. It is so quiet. I see my neighbors driving by and it is so quiet in here, I would never know there was anything going on if I didn’t have the shades up. I don’t think anyone can really see me in here since the windows are so darkly tinted. For my afternoon nap, I can use the lower couch with my feet under the ladder. It’s gonna be GREAT! I am so excited. I might come out here with Wylie this afternoon and take a nap after I feed her so she leaves me alone! Which reminds me. I need to do that now. I’ll be back.

I just ordered the 2020 Rand McNally map book in large print that Bill wanted me to get. The Walmart here in Naples only had one with Florida in it. It’s spiral bound. Once I get that, I’ll start plotting out my trip to Arizona. I’m really excited to do that. I figure I could do about 300 miles a day. It says I am 2,155 miles from Naples to Benson. So that will take me 7 days. If I leave on Monday, it will take me until the following Monday to get there. That should be OK. I’m thinking I might leave Daisy out there in Bill’s yard and then fly back to Naples from Benson. Still, everything is up in the air. I’m not sure I want to take that long of a time to get out there. I guess I’ll figure that out as I go. I can’t remember how much we drove on our way back from New Mexico, but that was pretty easy. I think it only took us 5 days to drive back. I’ll have to check with Suzan & Bette. Oh yea, Happy Birthday Bette!

Third day with Wylie in Daisy!

I discovered that if I put the blind down behind the Jack Knife couch, there is no space for the cats to jump down behind the couch. So that is what takes care of that and if I want to put the Jack Knife down, I can open the blinds when the cats are in here. Also, Wylie discovered the kitty litter in the shower and used it. I have it on film! SO she also drank from the water bowl. so she is getting used to it. I am going to put my quilt over the Jack Knife couch so they don’t use it for a scratching post. I don’t care if they use the carpet for a scratching post or above the cab – although I don’t think Wylie will get up there on her own. Metaxa will though. I could use another quilt to lay out on the bed above. I’ll need to buy one though, since the one I have in the house is too beaten up for it, although it might work. I’ll have to try it. The good one will work well on the couch. I think I’ll go back inside and get both of those quilts and see how it works.

My Quilt

I love the look of this in the coach. It covers up the upholstery that the cats will destroy eventually, so this works great. I know I’ll keep tucking it in but I love the way the stars run across the center of it. I made this quilt when I was married and it must be at least 30 years old. I know I must have made it before cats. I remember choosing the pattern and someone with far more experience than me said that I chose a difficult pattern with those stars. But I’ve never used it before for any reason except for just to fold on the back of a couch. I’m really happy about the way this looks in the coach. I think it brightens the place up some.

I also have a better picture of Wylie on her 3rd visit to Daisy. She even used the kitty litter as the video shows!
