Ms. Days Ease RV Live #114

Today is Wednesday, March 25, 2020.  It is an incredible day!  Number one, the closing on my house in Naples happened today.  Signed, sealed & delivered!  And on top of that (I got a text from Joann early this morning while I was driving that it was “done”!)  I just happened to be in a traffic jam and not moving – the first one this trip.  So I texted her back and let Bill & Cathy know also.  What are the chances of THAT timing!  But you know what they say, don’t count your chickens until you see the money IN THE BANK!  Guess what – that happened too.  I never expected that!  I figured it would be next week or so.  My how times have changed!  So now I can completely relax and just concentrate on getting to Benson.

Speaking of that!  I think I miscalculated my trip this time.  Today’s trip was REALLY long – 7 hours!  TOO MANY!  I guess the upside is that I have 2 nights here and the Rangers are still working which is great.  The place is really busy.  I did notice some available places.  They have a super way to mark the availability.  On the site poles, they have metal signs with A and R on them.  They just flip them up or down depending on what it is.  Available or Reserved.  First time I’ve seen that!

I think I might stick my neck out and say this is the nicest State Park I’ve been to so far!  I would definitely come back for a week or more.  I would definitely try to stay here for the Covid 19 “stay put” order if I wasn’t on a mission to get to Benson.  It is amazing and lots of things to do.  Great trails and float trips down the Guadalupe River.  It’s funny – the map says: “NOTE:  River does not flow in a circle.  You will not come back around to the same place you put in.”  Can you believe that?  SO FUNNY!  It’s kind of like the Alligator signs they have in Florida State Parks.

I tried to keep the windows open and the screen door open with the fan on, but it is too hot still, so the AC is on now to cool the coach until bedtime.  I started this blog late tonight.  Anyway, more about today.

Here is the sign for Guadalupe River State Park:

OMG – just after I closed my windows I see this guy walking down the street playing an accordion!  I didn’t hear it but what a sweet thing to do to entertain the “troops”!  Keeping his social distancing and entertaining at the same time!  Now THAT’S the way Americans should be!  This place is full of families with lots of kids.  Perhaps they are all Amish – who knows!

Speaking of entertainment, did you see this:

I got this from Jenn – thank you sista!  I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

So my site is #80.  This is the second site I’ve had at different places that is #80.  Interesting!  Anyway, this site is HUGE!  It has a big fire pit – too hot for a fire for me but people are having fires.  Big picnic table and a big hook to hang garbage, but I don’t need to do that since the dumpster is right next to me and I don’t have much garbage anyway.  But the coolest thing is that there is an area where I could put the CLAM tent if I felt like bringing it out.  If I was staying longer than 2 nights I would definitely do that.  But also I’d like it to be a little cooler.  But here is Daisy with her awning out a bit to shade that side from the sun:

You can see the clearing for the CLAM in the back ground.  Here is a better picture of it:

So as I mentioned, today was a LONG day.  I’m feeling better now, but really I can’t be doing that again.  I’m glad I have a day to recover in this BEAUTIFUL State Park.  There is a trail right down the way from me.  Plus I really may take my bike down tomorrow – never did it the other day, but tomorrow I might.  I made a couple of errors driving today.  There was a big ole truck on my ass and I got off at the wrong exit – just the one before I was supposed to, but as luck would have it (or another God Shot) the next exit was just ahead beyond where I was without any problem getting to it from off the highway.  I did some other odd thing which I can’t remember right now, but GiGi (My GPS) got me straightened out and I was fine.  That didn’t delay me all that much, I just got too aggressive with the mileage.  Lesson learned.

The other thing that happened was this:

With all of the crappy roads and pot holes that Daisy must maneuver over, things get bounced around.  The two drawers in the far cabinet worked their way out and caused the hinge to come “unhinged”.  I’ll have to have Bill fix it when I get to Benson because I don’t get how they work.  In the meantime – I haven’t needed anything in those cabinets on this trip, so it will be fine until I get there.  He fixed the hinge on one of the cabinets over the couch and they are kind of complicated.

The shelves in the refrigerator door always fall down so I’ve been taking them off for the trip and putting the drinks in the fridge.  I just noticed that the middle rack has a piece of metal tape on it which Ken Hill probably did.  I don’t think those shelves will be easy to replace, but I’ll have to see.

But beside those little issues, Daisy is running like a champ.  She just keeps rolling along!

I’m done for the day now.  Thanks for visiting!  See you next time!
