Good Morning COVID-19 Warriors. Day #172 for me and Day #32 for 50in50in50. I actually chose a state yesterday and traveled to Alabama. I’m now finding it more difficult to get to various states, but I got to Alabama just before the meeting started at Noon for them, 10AM for me. The time zones make it a little dicey.
So RBG died the other day – yesterday I think. God Bless Her:
I found this picture on FB. That is one thing that is good about FB. The other day I posted something about the Corona Virus that was said to have been said by Dr. Fauci. Well, Heather Wesling (Bless her) called me out on it and said it wasn’t by him. UGH! I hate looking stupid. Thanks a lot Heather :-)! So from now on, I’ll try to be more careful. That is why I like this blog because I don’t need to worry about what I say. I know it is still on the internet and I do get “trolls” at night – I get messages from them in my “messages”. Sometimes they are porn sites! Not good! Anyway, I just trash them and never open or respond.
But now that RBG is gone, they need a new SCJ. SO The Donald is saying he’s going to recommend someone right away. RBG dictated to her grand daughter her last wish was to wait (as she knew she was dying) until after the election and not to add a justice before the inauguration. So Trump is pushing through a nominee (to be announced next week) and McConnell is saying they will vote on one. So partisan politics is playing a role. It will be interesting how it turns out and only makes this election even more important! The idea that Trump will choose the next justice is awful. It will make the court way too “Trump” like and won’t be fair, plus it will cause the court to be lopsided for many years to come since they serve for life!!!! What’s with that anyway?????
I’m looking for my absentee ballot. I’m going to follow up on my ballot this year. I believe there are ways to do that on line. I just need to google that. Anyway, that is the reason I want to stay a Florida resident for the time being. After the election I could change that – it just depends on what John and Tony tell me. I must confess, I love the AZ license plates! And afterall, I am using Arizona roads so I should pay my way. More will be revealed.
I bought a new “kitty door” the other day:
It has a flap like the one we had in FL. I thought maybe Metaxa would remember how to use it, since the other door was difficult to use and I do recall her using it on her own once when something spooked her while she was on the porch. But otherwise, I need to coax her through it. So this new one has a flap that is easier to maneuver. But so far, no luck – I still let her in by the door. I’ll keep working on it. I put the old door on FB Marketplace and it has had over 200 views but no one has contacted me yet. So I put it back into another window for safe keeping and if someone wants it, I’ll just take it out of the window and sell it. There are 2 people who expressed interest. One wanted me to ship it and I said no – too heavy – not worth it. The other one is a possibility and they live in Benson so she is going to measure her window to see if it fits. Waiting for another response. Keep your fingers crossed!
So I was reminded of this today in the 8AM.
My plan for the day is to take a little road trip past Tucson to a campground that was voted one of the best in the country – Catalina State Park. I want to check it out in OTIS2 so I can make a quick trip there in Daisy when the weather gets cooler. I’ll pack a lunch and see what’s up. More will be revealed and I’ll add to this post when I get back. It’s a pretty day to go adventuring!
I’m back! What a super, duper State Park. I found it on Campendium and they said it’s one of the top 5 State Parks in the state or something like that. Not sure what enticed me to look it up, but boy am I glad I did!
This next picture is of the Saguaros at the entrance to the Gift Shop where I bought the PATCH for my collection:
The gift shop was small, at the guard house, but it had some great stuff in it. I forgot to get the coin for my collection so I’ll have to go back and get one. Gigi was the Ranger and the Volunteer Co-Ordinator and let me in for free with my Kartchner Volunteer tag. The woman at the register (a volunteer) said she had been at Kartchner for 5 years as a campground host.
Here are a couple of other pictures of the walk:
From the trail:
This was a stepping stone along the trail. They had many others too.
All along the path there were memorial benches (no relief from the sun which was bad today) and also a Memorial Wall at the start of the trail.
I can tell that this State Park has some great benefactors. Like Kartchner too. The nice thing about this State Park is that there is a nice, new shopping area right before the entrance to the park, so if you get bored with nature, you can go shopping in town. I’m not sure what the town is, but it’s a suburb of Tucson. They also won this:
Here is another quick video of the place for camping. There are pull through sites and they face the mountains. Just incredible. I picked out the site I want.
Here is the site:
Site #54 – has a beautiful view of the mountains and a little shade from a tree, but I’ll have my awning too. I just sent the info to Bill and they have never gone there so I guess it would be something we could all do together. BUCKET LIST!

You buy gas in AZ. Those taxes pay for AZ roads so don’t feel guilty! I just put a Biden bumper sticker on my car. I had to do something! There are so many Trump people here. I just can’t understand those people.
