Good Morning Everyone,
So last night Domino threw up a bunch of bile – it wasn’t food and it really smelled bad. So I called Jackie, my cat whisperer, and we decided to take him to ASH. After the xray, Dr. Mary showed me that his internal organs were “backed up” beyond constipation. There is a word for it and I’d never heard it before and still don’t know what it was. But essentially, we could have had him catharized and cleaned out, but it didn’t guarantee that his colon would work appropriately and then there was the issue with the “growth” blocking his colon. So rather than have him go through all of that, we decided he should be put down. If there is one bright spot in all of this, at least they did the xray first (he was NOT happy about it – I could hear him screaming at them) and since it showed the issue, additional blood work was not necessary saving me hundreds of dollars. I was looking at pictures last night and noticed that he was perfectly fine last Christmas through about April. Then he began to show signs of weight loss. Dr. Tuberville thought it might be a thyroid issue so for the last 2 months I’ve been giving him medicine in his ears 2 times a day. So anyway, he had a great life with us for about 10 years or so. We think he was probably about 15 or so. He was a good cat after the initial craziness of being feral rubbed off. Well the good news, is that just having 2 cats is a lot easier and both of them are pretty easy cats. Wylie is the oldest “queen” and Metaxa is the Princess.
